Nintendo Revolution Coming in March 06/24/2005 04:00 PM

revolution-ad.jpgMessianic hairstylist Kotaku has a poster showing information about Nintendo's Revolution console. There's jack squat as far as information goes, but it does confirm the launch date: March 2006. Maybe the Revolution will be that they'll actually show us some new games.

Europe Gets Nintendo DS March 11 02/01/2005 09:09 PM

ds_euro.jpg imageNintendo has given a firm launch date and price for its DS handheld gaming console for European markets. Showing up for 150€ on March 11th, the DS will have a considerably better launch title line-up than the US or Japan had, with at least two or three more 'must have' titles (including WarioWare touched, which is fantastic).

The competing Sony PSP will launch in late March in Europe if everything goes according to plan. (Thanks, Andy!)

Nothing like a good side by side comparison to separate the men from the boys when it comes to the next gen gaming consoles. True, not much is known at this time, but then again, for anyone seriously mulling this over and hankering for a good solid spec mash-up, you’ve come to the right place. In fact, we feel this is the longest, most massively detailed side-by-side ever built on the topic. Here we go……..

Aw man, it looks like USA Today may have scooped us all. Here is the pic they ran today with their story about the DS. Sort of ugly, isn't it? (It is, at least, sort of Game & Watch-like, which might explain the retrograde styling.) Since they credit the picture...

Nintendo DS

Nintendo DS 12/19/2004 03:46 PM

The hype machine has been hot and heavy for the Nintendo DS. Of course there's always the excitement about a brand-new gaming console, whether it's a handheld or home unit. But the DS — the Dual Screen — is something altogether new. We managed to get our hands on one and let game reviewer Ben Kuchera give it a good rogering.

So I didn't know what to think when I hit the town looking for a Nintendo DS. Like most of us I was skeptical of the unit at first, the idea of a handheld with two screens and touch capabilities seemed too gimmicky, almost as if Nintendo was getting into the PDA market. Sony seemed ready to take the handheld crown from Nintendo with specs that were more initially impressive.

The result? Well, we're not going to spill the beans here, but let's just say he was pleasantly surprised. Want more detail? Read on...

Nintendo DS to Have Wi-Fi Voice Over IP 08/31/2004 03:07 PM

Information has come out about Nintendo's upcoming DS handheld's ability to serve as a voice-over-IP handset, allowing DS gamers to make phone calls when connected to a Wi-Fi access point. There's no word if the service will allow DS users to call other, regular phones or not. Knowing Nintendo, it's probably more likely that DS users will be able to chat to other DS users, and not serve as an actual phone. (Thanks, John!)
