networking software. The drivers now stand at version 3.4.2. The
update, recommended for all users of Macs that use AirPort Extreme

management software, according to CNET.
"Xsan will not ship this year; it will ship early next year," Apple
said in response to an inquiry from CNET News.com. The company would
not say what caused the delay.
The product is designed to further Apple's position in the clustering
market. Xsan allows multiple computers to concurrently access
terabytes worth of storage housed on Xserve RAID disks, Apple's
rack-mounted storage system.
Apple announced Xsan in April at a trade show for broadcasters. The
software has been in testing mode ever since.

shipping its Xsan Storage Area Network (SAN) file system, now
available for US$999 per client and per server. Xsan is a 64-bit
cluster file system that enables Mac OS X Server users to share files
and volumes up to 16 TB (Terabytes) in size on a Fibre Channel
network. Apple also announced an upgrade to its rack-mountable Xserve
G5 file server, upping the top-end and "Cluster Node" configuration's
processor speed to 2.3GHz and its system bus speed to 1.15GHz.

English and Japanese versions of Microsoft Office 2004 (French,
German, Italian, and Swedish versions still to come). All Office
programs gain improved display of inserted PICT images and correct
importing of black-and-white scans from Xerox scanners. In addition,
Excel 2004 features improved performance when calculating array
formulas that include a user-defined function, PowerPoint 2004 better
handles opening presentations with invalid font information, and
there's a fix that could cause Office 2004 programs to freeze when

maintenance update of its cross-platform software development platform
that works with Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems. The new
5.5.2 release, a free update for registered 5.5 users, supports an SQL
database capability to update mis-formed date and time values when
used in tables and adds support for SQL RecordSet.Delete command, and
adds a dataControl command to handle text encoding. Network interfaces
can be assigned to specific Server Sockets to help eliminate conflicts
