Netscape 7 Preview Release 1

Netscape 7 Preview Release 1 06/05/2002 07:50 AM
Talk about sibling rivalry! Although everyone's talking about Mozilla's imminent version 1.0 release, Netscape refuses to be left behind. Hence, Netscape has released a preview of its next-generation browser, Netscape 7. We got our hands on Netscape 7 Preview Release 1 and were pleasantly surprised. This browser keeps the best of the recent Mozilla builds, including the browser itself and the e-mail client, while adding some useful tools, such as an integrated, full-featured version of AOL Instant Messenger. If the final release (due out later this summer), stays this solid and scores high on our official performance tests, it might finally outsurf Internet Explorer.

New Preview Release of Firefox 06/14/2004 09:06 PM
My name is Rafael Ebron, I’m a new addition to the Mozilla Foundation and helping spread the word. We would love to get a mention on your blog.Tomorrow, the Mozilla Foundation is releasing Firefox 0.9, a new preview release of our next generation web browser. Firefox 0.9 is the “feature complete” version of Firefox, and includes a number of exciting new features (new default theme, easy migration from Internet Explorer, new extensions framework) as well as a big reduction in download size (now just 4.7 MB on Windows) and numerous bug fixes, security and speed improvements.Later this week, we’ll also be releasing Mozilla 1.7, the lastest version of our Internet suite (including web browser, mail client, IRC client, HTML editor) and Thunderbird 0.7 (our new standalone email client). Our friends at Lindows and Disruptive Innovations also just announced the release of version 0.3 of their Mozilla-based standalone HTML editing tool, Nvu (more information about Nvu 0.3 is available www.nvu.com/download.html).

Linux users have a lot of choices in the Internet browser category these days, including Mozilla, Konqueror, Opera, and Epiphany, among others. Now there is also Mozilla Firefox, a leaner browser than its sibling, Mozilla 1.7. Firefox just had its preview release last week and already has been downloaded more than a million times. I reviewed the new version, and found Firefox's simple interface gets you the information you want without distracting you with options.
