QuickerTek Inc. has announced an antenna upgrade kit for Dr. Bott's ExtendAIR Omni antenna. The antenna is designed to work with AirPort Extreme Base Stations equipped with an antenna port, and improves wireless networking range for the device. QuickerTek's modification enables the antenna to work on all AirPort Base Stations, including older 802.11b-based Graphite and Snow-colored models. It also extends range by up to 30 percent, according to the company. It costs US$34.95 and requires a soldering iron to install; if you're not comfortable doing the installation yourself, QuickerTek offers a $25 installation service as well.

QuickerTek Inc. on Thursday introduced a new omni-directional antenna that they claim extends the wireless networking range of Apple's Mac mini. The new Mac Mini Antenna features 5.5dBi of RF power, which QuickerTek reports can extend the wireless networking range of a Mac mini by up to three times compared to a stock configuration. It doesn't require any case modifications to be installed, according to the company. The new antenna costs US$80.

QuickerTek's Whip PowerBook antenna is compatible with Buffalo Technology's 802.11g PC Card, the company has announced. QuickerTek is now offering both products in a bundle that they say can significantly boost wireless range in G3 and G4 PowerBooks. The Whip antenna plugs into a port on the Buffalo card, which is compatible with Mac OS X v.10.2.6 "Jaguar" and higher. The bundle sells for US$169.95. QuickerTek is offering a $35 rebate to users who trade in a working AirPort card when they make the purchase.

The 27dBm Transceiver is a 500 milliwatt unit (the Mac mini standard Airport Extreme is around 30) and is available for $180. Sure, that's over a third of the price of the mini itself, but they aren't marketing to the average user—think more along the lines of machines hidden in remote niches.

QuickerTek Inc.'s latest wireless networking transceiver is a 27dBm model for Apple's Mac mini. The company claims that with this transceiver in place, Mac mini users can extend their wireless networking reception up to a mile. The device boosts the Mac mini's wireless networking RF output from 30mW to 500mW, the maximum allowed. It works with 802.11g and 802.11b networking and ships with mounting brackets, adapter cable, wall-mounted power supply and utility software CD. It doesn't require drivers to work. The 27dbM transceiver for Mac minis costs US$180.

Apple have updated the range of iBooks. Processing power has increased and Airport cards are now standard across the range. Price reductions also bring down the 12-inch model below the magic $1000 mark (in the US obviously). The revised 14-inch model looks particularly good value — 1.33 GHz G4, 60Gb HD and DVD-R/CD-RW for £1049. Certainly a worthy alternative to the 12-inch PowerBook G4. Far be it from me to circulate rumours, but a revision to the iBook range suggests that the G5 PowerBooks may not be too far away…

Each model includes support for AirPort Extreme, Bluetooth, and chip speeds range from 800MHz to 1GHz. The new iBooks feature a completely redesigned architecture allowing for enhanced performance using the G4 and DDR memory. Included is the ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 graphics processor, and the new iBooks can get up to 6 hours of battery life. I just got my homebase wireless system setup!. Im very pleased with the idea of sharing my internet connection with others. Although i did find my self driving around with my laptop looking for other access points in bedford. Guess what???? That's right you quessed it! As soon as i got in bedford i found that there are quite a few users using peer2peer and some AP's. Although i did not try out the connections, i will try again soon, This time i will have a good play! If there are any users from bedfordshire, please post, as the more hotspots we find the better!!
