Intelli Innovations Inc. on Wednesday introduced a new Mac OS X-compatible USB-based barcode reader called the IntelliScanner Scanabout. The device is built for both tethered and portable use, and it's aimed at merchants, libraries or anyone else who needs to track inventory using their Mac.

Intelli Innovations on Wednesday introduced its second-generation IntelliScann er Collector, an updated version of the company's personal barcode reader for Mac and Windows. The new version features plug-and-play USB support requiring no additional drivers, a new ergonomic design, support for 13-digit ISBN barcodes, Mac and PC support in one box, a detachable 7-foot USB cable with integrated security lock, compliance with Global Trade Identification Numbers (GTINs) and other new barcode technologies, updated Collection 1.5 software, and compatibility with pre-printed IntelliScanner Asset Tags. The new IntellScanner Collector costs US$199 and requires Mac OS X v10.2 or higher.
