The ultimate version of Lando Calrissian, this figure perfectly captures every detail of the swauve scoundrel. Pose him double-crossing his old pals, getting choked by a wookiee, or taking aim at Stormtroopers, this figure can do it all!

After surviving The Battle of Endor in our Photo Archives this week, Lando Calrissian -- exhausted (and less buff!) from the Death Star Attack takes a last look at Return of the Jedi and bids farewell to the Saga line. Now it's time to kick back at the Mos Eisley Cantina, down a Colt 45, find a good sabacc game, and get back to a scoundrel's lifestyle!

Vintage Photo Archives: Klaatu (In Skiff

Vintage Photo Archives: Klaatu (In Skiff
Guard Outfit)
12/12/2003 01:03 AM
To modern Star Wars fans, the name ‘Klaatu’ (along with Nikto, Barada, and Weequay) was the name of his species, but that wasn't the case in the old school days. In the Eighties, that was his given name; the one you'd find on his driver's licence. As such, Klaatu (In Skiff Guard Outfit) was actually the same guy as the dude with the furry skirt that came out on the 65 back cards mere months earlier. Both can be found in the Vintage Photo Archive.

Vintage Photo Archives: Nikto

Vintage Photo Archives: Nikto 12/16/2003 01:56 AM
Despite how simplistic the vintage Nikto figure appears to be, it is one of the most faithful sculpts to be found in the Kenner line. As a matter of fact, save the yellow lines that were on the character’s pants, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive proves that the people at Kenner were not only very concerned with making top quality toys that best represented the film, they wanted to make toys worthy of the children that they made the toys for. There is little doubt that Kenner ‘really did care’ about more than the bottom line and it showed.

Our Power of the Force 2 Photo Archives update today features more aliens in Jabba the Hutt's employ. The Skiff Guards Klaatu, Barada, and Nikto (although technically, this alien is named Vizam) watch over the skiffs and sail barge, protecting the Hutt's valuable property, or perhaps securing a prisoner about to be thrown into the Great Pit of Carkoon. The Skrilling Pote Snitkin can pilot the skiff, but he has been known to dabble in exclusive deals from time to time.

POTF2 Photo Archives Update: Galactic
Empire
06/02/2004 03:55 AM
Today's Power of the Force 2 Photo Archives update features the agents of the Empire. The Death Star Trooper commands death squads of Stormtroopers into battle against enemy forces. Field promotions are commonplace in the Imperial navy, such as when Captain Piett was promoted to Admiral. Imperial pilots begin their service flying a TIE Fighter, but the most skilled among them can become a Cruisemissile Trooper in aerial assaults. Such is the life of an Imperial soldier in service to Emperor Palaptine.

Vintage Photo Archives: Gamorrean Guard

Vintage Photo Archives: Gamorrean Guard 12/04/2003 03:46 AM
It boggles the mind how accurate the vintage Gamorrean Guard really is. Even though this figure is a bit out of scale, if given a modern paint job it could easily fit in with the current line. A fact more or less proven when today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive here was (sort of) packed out as a new figure in the early Ninties… For the most part, the sculpt was retooled and used to produce the Friar Tuck figure from Kenner’s dismal Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves movie line.

For a dude who was in one scene and didn’t even talk, it’s truly surprising that Kenner felt a need to produce a second Bespin Security Guard, but clearly their marketing department knew what they were doing. Though, not as iconic as its predecessor, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive was warmly accepted by everyone buying Star Wars figures back in the day.

Vintage Photo Archives: EV-9D9

Vintage Photo Archives: EV-9D9 01/05/2004 02:25 AM
Believe it or not, EV-9D9, the creepy tobacco throated droid from Jabba’s Palace, was actually a female droid! Yes, that’s right, in the old days of Star Wars today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive shared the pages of the annual ‘Hot Chicks In A Galaxy Far, Far Away…’ calendar. Humana. Humana. Humana.

Vintage Photo Archives: 8D8

Vintage Photo Archives: 8D8 12/15/2003 02:28 AM
How is it that 8D8, a mute white robot that looks like it belongs on a Pete Townsend album cover could be a popular action figure? Well, in the case of 8D8, there is the whole Star Wars character angle, plus like many kids, this guy liked taking out his aggressions on pool little Power Droids. So it would seem a no-brainer… Well, except that today's addition to the Vintage Photo Archive wasn’t really a popular action figure. Chances are, anyone with hours on their hands (like any toy collector doesn’t have too much of that) could probably still find a couple of these carded at their local mom and pop toy store. Hint: Look behind the Bionic Six action figures in the discount bin.

Vintage Photo Archives: 4-LOM

Vintage Photo Archives: 4-LOM 11/14/2003 01:20 AM
Most vintage collectors will argue to no end that Kenner's vintage Star Wars line was flawless, but even the most die-hard out there will agree that the toymaker did mess up once. The mistake in question deals partially with the 4-LOM action figure. It seems that the hard working people at Kenner had somehow mixed his and Zuckuss's names up. As a result, to vintage collectors, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive will always be 4-LOM. But for those of you that read this column daily, it is, of course, all old news…

Vintage Photo Archives: Klaatu

Vintage Photo Archives: Klaatu 12/09/2003 02:41 AM
The vintage Klaatu figure may seem like nothing more than a plastic representation of one of the many thugs on the payroll of one Jabba The Hutt. To a vintage variation collector, however, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive is evil... pure, unadulterated evil.
