I get asked this question at least once a week: "How do I get my open source project onto your radar screen?" The question is often accompanied by a lament about how such-and-such project gets endless press while the questioner's equally valuable one gets ignored. There will be an IRC discussion about promoting your open source project Saturday, April 24, at 2000 UTC. IRC server = events.oftc.net, #promo.
