Those of you that have been hanging around here for awhile will know that I am a English major and that I never make English mistakes. HA well now that most of you have just finished laughing I second a idea that the writer at A Whole Lot of Nothing came up with here it is.

"I want a MT plugin that will let a select group of my closest, most trusted friends correct typos in text and URLs on my blog posts and republish their changes without my intervention"

This is a wonderful idea any programmers out their. [a.wholelott anothing.org]

Got a great idea about how to reform the
IRS or our Tax Code?
04/16/2005 02:27 AM
This may come as a bit of a surprise, but the U.S. Government (if not the Internal Revenue Service) is listening and wants to receive proposals from people who have ideas about how to reform the tax code. Heck, there’s even a press release and an entire Web site devoted to this topic, though I haven’t seen any link from the IRS Web site. The President’s Advisory Panel on Federal Tax Reform request for proposals…

The Underground History of American Education
You aren’t compelled to loan your car to anyone who wants it, but you are compelled to surrender your school-age child to strangers who process children for a livelihood.... If I demanded you give up your television to an anonymous, itinerant repairman who needed work you’d think I was crazy; if I came with a policeman who forced you to pay that repairman even after he broke your set, you would be outraged. Why are you so docile when you give up your child to a government agent called a schoolteacher?

Even though the New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer had some choice words for the defendants in a spamming lawsuit, Scott Richter only received a slap on the wrist after a deal was reached. One thing to note is that Richter makes his claim to fame by stating that he makes “several million dollars a month in profits”. If this statement even has a thread of truth to it, then you have to wonder…

Fossil Wrist PDA (Finally) Reviewed

Fossil Wrist PDA (Finally) Reviewed 02/05/2005 10:17 PM

wristpda.jpg imageFor those of you who don't mind adorning your wrist with what appears to be a small, metal-framed end table comes the Wrist PDA from Fossil. Possibly the first wrist watch to come with a stylus, (albeit one that looks like the nail file from a mini-Leatherman) Fossil has jam-packed every ounce of PalmOS goodness they could into a little square. As a bonus, they've graciously packed it in an adorable orange tin which you can later use to store your Tinker Toys or fingers collection. FossilWristPDA.com has a surprisingly balanced review/getting started guide that gets only a little bit smarmy (and we'll cut them some slack, since they've obviously been anxiously sitting on that domain for a while). It seems that writing on the watch has a bit of a learning curve, but using most third party software works well and allows you to pack quite a bit of functionality onto your wrist. It's only taken like 3 years to get here.

After having waited "an extra year," the reviewer says it has some serious pitfalls — it's too damn big and has too short a battery life. One is a critical blow to the "watch" aspect, and the other a critical blow to the "PDA" aspect. I'll let you figure out which is which. Fatality.

Press Release: MacNETv2 and Blue Moon
Bids partner to sell rare Apple wrist
watches
03/22/2005 04:52 PM

Salem, OR (Blue Moon Bids) March 21, 2005

MacNETv2 is raising funds to buy two Xserve G5 servers. To do so they are parting with three Apple Logo Watches from the 1995 MacWorld Expo. They are in mint condition, never been worn, and have been in safe keeping since they were acquired. The watches are rare and hard to find.

"Before we made the decision to offer these watches for sale to the highest offers we searched all the Apple logo companies to see what they were getting for them. We couldn’t find a single web site offering these watches, and when we searched eBay we found the same thing; no one has them," said the MacNETv2 staff.

One idea

One idea 09/23/2004 11:04 AM
The national oil reserve should be converted into an instrument of market stabilization.  Currently, the US maintains reserves in place for times of war or severe supply disruption.  The US reserves should be refocused to become a service that sells oil to make up for any political/guerrilla induced production shortfalls.  This would require a much larger reserve (1 billion barrels is a target).  If Iraqi guerrillas reduce Iraq's production by 1 m barrels, the US should sell oil to make up the shortfall.  If Venezuela stops production due to political turmoil, replace their 2.5 m barrels a day.  The net benefit to the world from this over the last month?  ~$2-3 billion.

Idea a Day - Where Ideas are Free
http://www.idea-a-day.com/

Idea a Day will publish an original idea every day for the rest of time. The ideas published will be free of copyright, however valuable they may be. They are there to be read, to be enjoyed, to be exploited. Whatever. The project represents a completely fresh approach to the handling of ideas and intellectual property. This is not a get rich quick scheme. There are no plans to float, no advertisers or sponsors lined up. idea-a-day.com exists because it can. Because it will be fascinating to see what happens when these ideas are made available to the world.
