JaxMe 0.4beta (Apache branch)

JaxMe 0.4beta (Apache branch)

JaxMe 0.4beta (Apache branch) 04/13/2005 08:44 AM

JaxMe is a Java/XML binding framework based on SAX2. It consists of a set of code generators that read an XML schema and generate code for parsing conformant XML documents into corresponding Java objects, saving those objects into a database or, vice versa, reading such Java objects from a database and converting them into XML. JaxMe supports namespaces, relational databases, and Tamino. JaxMe comes with an integrated application framework and a generator for EJB entity beans with BMP (bean managed persistence).

Changes:
This is the first version supporting nested groups with multiplicity <= 1. In particular, xs:extension now works. Additionally, the collection type "indexed" is now supported.

AqBanking 1.0.4beta (AqHBCI branch)

AqBanking 1.0.4beta (AqHBCI branch) 03/29/2005 02:42 AM
AqBanking is a modular and generic interface to online banking tasks, financial file formats (import/export) and bank/country/currency information. It provides frontends for Qt, KDE, GTK, and console. AqBanking uses backend plugins to actually perform the online tasks. HBCI and DTAUS discs are currently supported. AqBanking is used by GnuCash, KMyMoney, and QBankManager.
Changes:
This version fixes many problems with some banks in PIN/TAN mode, so it should now work with even more banks. When logging connections in PIN/TAN mode, the PIN is no longer logged. Eu-Transfers have been implemented.

SOPE Application Server 4.4beta.5
(Default branch)

SOPE Application Server 4.4beta.5
(Default branch)
03/22/2005 03:51 PM
Screenshot The SOPE package is an extensive set of frameworks (16 frameworks, ~1500 classes) which form a complete Web application server environment. Besides the Apple WebObjects compatible appserver extended with Zope concepts, it contains a large set of reusable classes: XML processing (SAX, DOM, XML-RPC), MIME/IMAP4 processing, LDAP connectivity, RDBMS connectivity, and iCalendar parsing. The parts of the package can be used stand-alone (e.g. in Cocoa applications) and do not require the appserver parts. For MacOSX developers, the package includes SOPE:X, which contains special Xcode and Cocoa support for SOPE.
Changes:
Some minor issues in the WebDAV layer were fixed. A plist parsing bug in the rule engine was eliminated (required for OGo trunk), and the configuration was improved.

XML is sexy, PHP and XML is a cheap and good way to create and syndicate your website. Now, when you have your own server, you can set up all the necessary apache add-ons to explore the PHP-XML relationship to the full extend. When you own a virtual server at an ISP, you can't do that. Still, there is a way to use XML with PHP without doing any changes to the server, the answer is a small but fine PHP script.

FeedPoster (the little blog app that posts my del.icio.us links via MetaWebog API) stopped working, complaining about unknown XML entity #8217. I didn't see any weird characters in my del.icio.us feed and the error was coming from Apache XML-RPC. I dropped in the brand new Apache XML-RPC 2.0 and problem solved! I love it when that happens. I didn't even have to recompile FeedPoster.

PHP and Apache 2.0 04/09/2004 04:05 PM
"It seems that one of the key features of Apache 2 is the new threaded worker module which uses threads to serve more requests more efficiently than 1.3's multi-process based server. While the core Zend engine of PHP is thread-safe many of the critical libraries that PHP relies on for its advanced functionality (image processing, database connectivity and so forth) are not, and are unlikely to become so any time in the future. In a threaded environment PHP is likely to suffer from all kinds
