Press Release - NewsGator Technologies
and About.Com Agreement Allows Users to
Access New RSS Feeds Within Microsoft
Outlook
10/28/2003 11:09 PMFirst In Series of Moves To Add Valuable Content For
Users
DENVER, Colo. -- Aug. 19, 2003 -- NewsGator Technologies has
partnered with About.com to include over 400 RSS feeds in NewsGator
1.3's new feed wizard, which means that users will be able to find and
subscribe to any of About.com's feeds with only a few clicks. Adding
these feeds marks the first in a series of announcements designed to
add important and productive content for NewsGator users, while at the
same time making the content easier to find.
NewsGator 1.3 is a news aggregator which runs inside Microsoft
Outlook, and retrieves news from news sites, weblogs, NNTP (Usenet)
newsgroups, and other information sources that support the RSS
syndication format, and automatically integrates the news items into
Microsoft Outlook folders.
About.com, the Web's largest content destination, recently created
more than 400 RSS feeds, covering each of their content areas.
Including these feeds in NewsGator's feed wizard will expand the reach
and visibility of these feeds to NewsGator users. "We're very excited
to be partnering with NewsGator Technologies to include our wide range
of content feeds within NewsGator," said Ron McCoy, CTO of About.com.
"We believe that publishing our content this way, combined with the
ease-of-use and corporate reach of NewsGator, will increase the
visibility of our content to a new audience and make it easier for our
current audience to keep up with the topics in which they're
interested."
NewsGator users can monitor the ever-growing number of information
sources supporting RSS syndication. News can be sorted, organized,
grouped, or searched in countless ways, and features like offline
reading make this information readily accessible at any time.
NewsGator 1.3 works with Microsoft Outlook 2000 or later, and is
available immediately from http://www.newsgator.com. Pricing
is $29 (U.S.) per copy, with quantity discounts available.

09/04/2004 05:07 AMFamilies often share things—meals, cars, computers. But even if you
don't mind sharing a computer, you probably don't want to share your
e-mail accounts. With a few simple tweaks, you can easily share a copy

junior sibling, Outlook Express, includes an Identities feature for
managing e-mail for several people. Unfortunately, OE can't deal with
the calendar, contact, and task information that Outlook handles so
well.

02/10/2004 02:51 PM"Yes, I'm talking about that ever-present application that handles
e-mail, scheduling and some word processing tasks. Odds are pretty
good that you've got a copy of it installed on your laptop, and that
you take your portable with you when you travel. (Regarding the latter
point, a recent survey by Harris Interactive found that more than one
in four laptop PC owners say their machine is one of their "most
prized possessions," and nearly a third said they've regretted leaving
it at home on trips and have turned around to retrieve it on at least
one occasion.) Outlook is to travelers what a paper clip is to
MacGyver. It does a lot more than you think. (My apologies to those
who aren't familiar with television show which had its heyday in the
1980s and '90s.)"
