In sharp contrast to the harmless pranks that will be played on April Fools' Day, deceptive phishing schemes are no laughing matter. To strike a blow against criminals who prey on Internet users, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), National Consumers League and Microsoft Corp. today urged consumers to beware of phishing schemes aimed at stealing their identities.

RAW, iPhoto, And Mac OS X 05/04/2004 09:05 PM
To manage RAW files, you simply need to add a few easy steps to your existing workflow to keep misery at bay. By Derrick Story, O'Reilly Network (via MyAppleMenu)

First Look: iPhoto 5

First Look: iPhoto 5 02/01/2005 09:55 PM
At times, previous releases of Apple's digital photo management program iPhoto came across as catch-up efforts -- catching up to the features found in third party applications that came before it; catching up to the incredible pace that people were shooting and storing digital pictures; and catching up to the potential of being mature Mac OS X applications that aren't hobbled by the halting performance and feature compromises that have been the hallmark of Apple's 1.0 applications of late. In many ways, iPhoto 5 feels like it's finally caught up. Some elements are organized a bit differently than before, but in a way that suggests the designers took a closer look at how people are actually using it.

iPhoto to Typepad

iPhoto to Typepad 05/25/2004 01:18 PM

PhotoToTypePad/ a> has been released for public beta. I've been testing it for the past couple weeks and Jonathon has incorporated pretty much every feature request and comment I made. It works perfectly for me, I typically create a new gallery, toss some photos in it, rename the titles on the images, then just export to Typepad as a new gallery.

About the only downside I've found so far is the resolution limits at Typepad, which seem to force images whatever max width and height is in your settings (typically 500-640px). Also, I have no idea how much the final version of PhotoToTypepad will cost, hopefully it'll be $5-10.

Apple: iPhoto 4.0.3 08/06/2004 10:00 AM
After posting and then pulling iPhoto 4.0.2 earlier in the week, Apple has now released iPhoto 4.0.3.

Apple's iPhoto update fixed one bug a MacInTouch reader had reported.

iPhoto 4.0.2 update no longer available

iPhoto 4.0.2 update no longer available 08/04/2004 07:58 AM
It appears Apple has removed the iPhoto 4.0.2 update, which was initially released on Monday, without any explanation...

Apple iPhoto updates to 4.0.3

Apple iPhoto updates to 4.0.3 08/10/2004 03:25 AM
iPhoto 4.03, has been released with a slew of new changes, which will be of particular interest for Applescripters. iPhoto lets you burn your photos directly onto a CD or DVD for archiving. It makes it easy for you to fix those "not-so-perfect" photos with just a click of the new one-button Enhance. And you can send pictures from iPhoto with your favorite e-mail application too. iPhoto even lets you select music directly from iTunes or send a slideshow directly to iDVD.

iPhoto 4.0.2 update pulled

iPhoto 4.0.2 update pulled 08/04/2004 10:03 AM
Apple on Monday released an update to iPhoto, its iLife application for viewing, sorting and outputting digital photos. The 4.0.2 update addressed "minor issues wiuth Smart Albums and European books, and provides notification when new versions of iPhoto are available." Now it appears that Apple has pulled the update from general distribution -- a Web page with the update download link is no longer online, and the 4.0.2 update is no longer visible using the Software Update system preference pane. Apple could not be reached for comment as MacCentral posted this article.
