EverythingUSB is reporting that the Philips KEY019 flash drive with built-in MPEG-4 camcorder and 2 megapixel camera (translation: May I have one, daddy?) is shipping this week, and drops a little tidbit that I must have missed in the previous press releases. In addition to all the cool gear packed inside of the KEY019, it also manages to squeeze a 0.16 color LCD display (to the right, and probably not to scale) from Kopin inside, which is one of the smallest LCDs available. Kopin claims to have some models of miniLCDs that are as small as a grain of rice.

Trying to get a jump over similarly-sized plasma displays, Sharp Electronics Corp. at InfoComm previewed its largest LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor yet, the 45-inch (100-centimeter) LC-M4500. The monitor is a size upgrade over Sharp's earlier 37-inch models and can display true 1080 high-definition video signals in a full 1920-pixel by 1080-pixel format without scaling the image, said Bruce Pollack, associate marketing director at Sharp. It is also the first 45-inch display launched by Sharp targeted at commercial establishments needing information display and digital signage applications, including retail outlets, restaurants, airports and hotels, he said.

Apple on Monday introduced a new 30-inch Apple Cinema HD display, a new flat panel screen that features 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. Apple also introduced new 23-inch and 20-inch displays to replace their existing flat panel monitors. The new displays all have the by-now familiar widescreen aspect ratio found across almost all of Apple's pro hardware line, and sport dual FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 ports, and use DVI to connect to video cards instead of Apple's vaunted ADC interface -- making the new monitors compatible out-of-the-box with Power Macs, PowerBooks, and PC-compatible computers as well.

The display integrates an acute 0.29mm pixel pitch and 16.7-million displayable colors in an 1.62-inch form factor. The Rad-9b boasts two built-in, two-watt stereo speakers, a 500:1 contrast ratio and 1280x1024 resolution at 75Hz.

LIAM MCNULTY -- Casio comes out of absolutely nowhere with a 2.2" amorphous TFT LCD capable of display VGA resolution. Hell, I didn't even know Casio made screens.

If you've forgoten your display terminology, VGA resolution is 640 x 480 dots - what used to be the standard number of pixels a screen could display at the same time. Modern computer screens (like the one you're looking at now) can display, oh, 1024 x 768 dots of resolution, and often more. (OMG, N00b. - ed.)
