Canon has added three new scanners -- 3000 ex, 8400F and LiDE 35 -- to its CanoScan line, the company announced on Monday. The 3000 ex (US$49.99) offers a maximum optical resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi and enhanced resolution of 9600 dpi, with 48-bit color processing and a USB 2.0 port. The 8400F ($149.99) bumps the maximum resolution to 3200 x 6400 dpi and can handle 35mm to medium format-sized film. It features the ability to turn documents directly into PDF files by pressing a button on the front and also has a USB 2.0 port.

This enables content service providers to use Xserve G5 systems and QuickTime to deliver streaming audio and video clips to Sprint customers whose phones support Sprint's new Vision Multimedia Service.
