Boston-area bank suggestion? (Bank of
America is not dog-friendly)
06/22/2005 02:23 AMMy bank has been purchased, for about the fifth time.
Currently it is called "Bank of America." None of the previous
changes of ownership or name bothered me but this time the new color
scheme came with "no dogs allowed" signs in the front of every branch
office. I'm not sure that I can stomach 0.2% interest if I can't
have a dog at my side to provide some comfort as inflation and
corporate looters erode my turbine-powered helicopter fund.
Anyone have a suggestion for a dog-friendly bank in the Boston
area?

just announced
the SiteKey service, a very effective protection against

service will launch in Tennessee next month and roll out across the
country by the
end of 2005.
SiteKey service is based on the patented 2-way 2-factor
authentication
solution from PassMark
Systems. For
the most part of last year, I've been helping them build their core
authentication
technology. This year, my focus at PassMark has been the forensic
technology.
Oh yeah. Hurrah!
Update:

visually minded. That

established this facility to promote the search and dissemination of
economic research published by central banks.
The facility is
built on the principle of crawlers that search research content from
selected central banks websites on a daily basis. The Research Hub
e-mail alert will keep its users informed about new research published
on any of the websites of the participating central banks. Subscribers
to the free e-mail alert can select specific topics and reception
frequencies to keep their e-mail volumes under control.
The BIS
hopes that this facility will make research work on central banking
topics more widely accessible to the central banks and the academic
community at large. This has been added to

Cellular sounds
Cellular sounds
04/15/2004 01:10 PMWhat do cells sound like? Nanotech pioneer Jim Gimzewski and grad
student Andrew Pelling are using the tiny tip of an atomic force
microscope like the needle of a record player to pick up a cell's
sound-generating vibrations. Gimzewski has named the fieled
"sonocytology." From a Smithsonian Magazine article about the
research:
"The distance the cell wall moves determines the
amplitude, or volume, of the sound wave, and the speed of the
up-and-down movement is its frequency, or pitch. Though the volume of
the yeast cell sound was far too low to be heard, Gimzewski says its
frequency was theoretically within the range of human hearing. 'So all
we're doing is turning up the volume,' he adds."

When Wi-Fi meets cellular
When Wi-Fi meets cellular
03/14/2005 06:27 PMWouldn't it be nice if you had a dual-mode phone that let you talk via
voice over Wi-Fi when you're in the office, warehouse or hospital, and
then seamlessly switched over to cellular when you were outside the
coverage area of your wireless LAN. That's the promise of new
converged or hybrid services that will become available sooner than
you think.
