AP - Qwest Communications International Inc. boosted its bid for MCI Inc. again on Thursday, offering $8.94 billion just two days after the long-distance phone company accepted a sweetened $7.51 billion proposal from Verizon Communications Inc.

No surprise here, but Qwest, who is in the process of being spurn ed repeatedly in trying to buy MCI, has now filed an official protest against SBC's acquisition of AT&T. Of course, half the reason Qwest wants to buy AT&T is because SBC buying AT&T will leave Qwest even further behind (and it's already pretty far back there).
