Handset maker Nokia promoted the release of a new phonecam/PDA with help from renowned British fashion photographer Rankin, and a bunch of hot nekkid fairy chicks.

[Rankin] was given an advance trial of Nokia's latest and highest-resolution cameraphone, the 7610. With it, he crafted six huge A2 sized photographs and 60 other shots, inspired by the legendary Cottingley fairy photographs. By running the images through software filters, the former co-founder of the legendary Dazed & Confused magazine managed to conjure up incredibly sharp images of beautiful women posed as woodland fairies. All this from a one-megapixel cameraphone with 4 x digital zoom, and a very sharp colour display.

Okay, so Nokia just dropped three phones onto us, and they're pretty crazy, and by 'crazy' I mean 'sort of ugly.' I have to cop to sort of liking the Tron-style and the asymetrical design - the one round corner, one square corner 'new Nokia' look - but I have a feeling I'll be in the minority. Would it kill them to just release a nice, silver phone that you could take home to mom?

Anyway, here's the breakdown, and I'll probably go after this post in a couple of waves. The one pictured here is the Nokia 7280, which you might notice doesn't have a keypad. That's because Nokia designed it to be "sleek," "sexy," and "edgy." (I'm not joking.)

A bug in the extended API was enhanced.

Aside from the typo, I have no complaints about QDBM.  Coming from me, that's a complement.

Well, it was the obvious next step after someone tried to sue penis pill internet marketers for misleading claims. Now, the Washington state Attorney General's Office is suing a company offering "breast enhancement" solutions online. What amazes me is that anyone actually believes these companies in the first place. The AG's office noted that the company talked about clinical tests that (surprise, surprise) didn't exist, lies concerning FDA approval of the products, and lies about the fact about whether the pills contained hormones. They're also going to go through the (most likely made up) "testimonials" and try to determine whether or not they're true. Anyway, I'm sure someone else has already opened up an identical site somewhere else.

And last but not least (if you're reading from the bottom up; otherwise, welcome to the Nokia posts!) are these two new peripherals from Nokia, a new Nokia Wireless Headset HS-11W headset with a 6 hour talk time, and this Nokia Wireless GPS Module LD-1W that also connects to your phone or PDA via Bluetooth (the GPS may not actually be new - it seems sort of familiar - but I don't exactly recall hearing about it before). The GPS unit uses the same battery and charge plug as most Nokia phones, so you can use your existing charge to go along with it.

The headset should be out later this year, while the GPS unit isn't scheduled until Q1 2005.
