Developer's Forum, it was crystal-clear that the company has finally
left behind the last vestiges of the hunt for megahertz. Instead, we
have a newly-branded desktop CPU, the Pentium D, and a host of other
multicore products. Join Hannibal as he looks back at the IDF and
discusses where Intel is headed next.

E3 roundup
06/05/2005 10:53 PMAnother E3 is ready to wrap up. Before it rides off into the sunset
until 2006, check out Kurt Mackey's roundup of all things E3.
The big news at this year’s E3 was the
introductions of next generation consoles from Sony, Nintendo and
Microsoft. The marketing material’s been covered pretty
extensively, and E3 was a good chance for scrubs like me to get (or
attempt to get) some more information about the upcoming
consoles.
Microsoft was the big winner when it came to showing off
next-generation consoles. Sony was second, and about all Nintendo had
to say about the Revolution was that it's about the size of three DVD
cases. Read on for the definitive E3 summary.

Review Roundup
Review Roundup
09/25/2004 05:03 PMA roundup of the stuff I've seen and used in the past few
months:
- Riding Giants
was fantastic, doing for surfing what Dogtown and Z Boys did for
skateboarding: making a sport interesting to regular folks. The big
wave stuff at the very end is really incredible, though if I had to
find any fault with this movie, it kind of glossed over the 80s
revival of big wave surfing, especially all the drama at the Eddie
Aikau contests.
- The folks at Bigha sent me a Jasper Laser to play
with, and it actually works as described. On dark, clear nights, you
can point at stars surprisingly well, and folks next to you can see
what you're pointing at. For complete amateur astronomers, this is
often the biggest problem as you point and try to describe stuff to
others. The laser worked so well one night that I heard my next door
neighbor ask "what in the hell is that?!"
- The "cr
ippy duck" bag from Crumpler is the best laptop/camera bag I've
ever owned, and might just be the last one I need. The laptop sleeve
fits my 12" powerbook well and I can toss the charger, my digital
rebel, an extra lens, and an external flash into the rest of the
interior space. Basically I can carry everything I might need in
something smaller than most of the messenger bags I've used in the
past.
- My bag is also filled with ziplinq cables, which work great at
connecting and charging my cell phone, my ipod, and my CF card reader,
in addition to connecting to ethernet when need be and modem
connections as well.
- Joel on
Software's book is a surprisingly good read. It's basically a book
of essays and blog entries but it's really well written, though skews
towards hardcore (C++) software development.
- I mentioned Medium Footwear on
this site about a year ago, but finally found a shop with a good
selection in San Francisco. I own a pair of these and they're some of my all-time
favorite shoes. Interesting on the outside, and a comfortable skate
shoe on the inside. Perfect.
- Jason took me to an
all-risotto restaurant called Risotterria that was really good and worth checking out
if you're in Manhattan.

Regression Roundup
04/19/2005 04:14 AMThe purpose of this blog entry is for you to track back to it with
regressions you have discovered going from 1.2 to 1.3. It would be
especially helpful if you can test up front for whether this is a user
agent bug (by spoofing as another browser), since changes in browser
version numbers often cause regressions even when nothing is wrong
with the browser itself.
The more clear and concise the reduction, the better the chances
are that we can address the issue quickly (thus increasing the odds it
can make it into a software update sooner rather than later).
Please include in these trackbacks only regressions from 1.2. If
you included something in the earlier blog entry's comments section,
please post it again as a trackback. Thanks!
