07/30/2004 12:19 PM
Aspyr Media Inc. on Friday announced that its Mac conversion of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has reached its Beta development milestone. The game is on track for a September release, according to the company. Knights of the Old Republic, also known by the acronym KOTOR, is an enormously popular role playing game set in the Star Wars universe, thousands of years before the events depicted in George Lucas' epic films. System requirements for the game will call for Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, G4/1GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 4GB free hard disk space and ATI Radeon 7500 or Nvidia GeForce2 MX or better 3D graphics acceleration with at least 32MB VRAM, and a DVD drive to install and play. The game is now available for pre-order for US$49.88.

More Sega PC USB Controllers

More Sega PC USB Controllers 12/28/2004 01:07 PM

sega_pcub.jpg imageSega has released more USB controllers for PCs, available in a variety of new colors, including the always sassy pink. I've never been a Sega controller man, myself, preferring the SNES pad on the whole, but I think it's fantastic that companies continue to release controllers from years past, despite a wealth of conversion dongles that let you use the original units via USB. Why? Because I like to spend money. (Thanks, Rom!)

Sega Neo Geo Controller for PS2

Sega Neo Geo Controller for PS2 12/29/2004 12:01 PM

snk_controller.jpg imageFor me, nothing beats a good D-pad and an analog thumbstick for gaming, but for the ultimate fighting game championships, it's hard to go wrong with a nice 8-way joystick. And while it's not my favorite stick from history (the metal-shod, Ghostbusters II NES Advantage probably is nearest to my heart), the Neo Geo controller certainly has a certain something, not the least of which is that it was the first home gaming console controller that had a proper joystick (Atari, et al not withstanding).

So all that's to say, Sega Logistics and SNK Playmore have teamed up to release a new version of the classic controller, called the 'Neo Geo Stick 2,' with 4 extra buttons to work with the Sony Playstation 2. It's a strange landscape, isn't it, with Sega releasing an SNK design on a Sony platform.
