Digidesign on Monday announced that it will soon add Ableton Live Lite 4 Digidesign Edition to every Pro Tools TDM and LE music production environment. A free update from Live 2 Digidesign Edition is available for registered owners at the Ableton Web site. While Live Lite 4 is a feature-limited version of the full Live 4 music recording and mixing software, it adds functionality not present in the previous version of the Digidesign Edition, including better control of volume, pitch and timing, new audio and MIDI effects and more.

SRS Labs Inc. has announced the upcoming availability of an SRS Circle Surround encoding software plug-in designed for Digidesign's Pro Tools systems. With the plug-in in place, Pro Tools users can encode up to 6.1 channels of audio and monitor the results using a real-time decoder built in to the software. It'll be available this quarter for about $800.

Digidesign has announced that it's now shipping Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1, which adds support for Mac OS X v10.3 among its other new features, and Smack!, a compressor/limiter plug-in. Pro Tools 6.4.1 extends fader gain range to +12dB over 0 dBFS, supports the new Command|8 control surface, offers hierarchical plug-in menus, marks track position with "scroll to track number" and more. It's a free update for those who own Pro Tools TDM 6.x; those with a lower version number can purchase it on a CD for US$35 plus tax and shipping.

Digidesign announced on Thursday that it is now distributing Trillium Lane Labs' recently introduced Pro Tools plug-ins TL Space and T L EveryPhase. The former sports a reverb engine that supports mono, stereo and surround sound, with a library of reverb and effect impulses included. It's available in a TDM edition -- which supports TDM, HTDM, RTAS and AudioSuite for Pro Tools|HD and HD Accel systems -- for US$995 and in a Native edition -- which supports RTAS and AudioSuite for Pro Tools|HD or Pro Tools LE systems -- for $495. A Pace iLok UDB Smart Key and an iLok.com account are required.

Developer Rage Software announced on Thursday the release of WebDesign 2.5, an update to its semi-WYSIWYG Web page authoring application, which supports such languages as HTML, XHTML, CSS, PHP and others. The new version adds the ability to preview Web pages within the software, a markers feature that allows you to jump to different functions within a page and enhancements to the site manager, FTP function, text editor and more. This is a free update for registered owners of WebDesign 2.x, while new customers can purchase a license for US$29.95, with volume and academic discounts available. A trial version is available. System requirements call for Mac OS 9.0 or Mac OS X v10.1 or higher.

EyeSee360 on Friday released PhotoWarp 2.5, an updated version of their one-shot panoramic image processing software for Mac OS X and Windows. The new version, 2.5, adds 25 new features including a live preview window, auto-rotating panoramas, 16 bit per channel image processing, and AppleScript support. PhotoWarp supports Kaidan's 360 One VR, as well as one-shot panorama solutions from BeHere, Egg Solution, Remote Reality and 0-360. It exports content to QuickTime VR, iSee Zoom Viewer, PTViewer Java applets and now Macromedia's FlashVR. PhotoWarp 2.5 costs US$249; users of previous versions can upgrade for $79.

The upgrade adds new modeling tools that allow you to twist and stretch shapes, 600 textures and 300 decals for the photo rendering library, a Pro/E Reader for parts and assemblies, automated design book creation and more. In addition, Concepts Unlimited 2 features better compression algorithms that result in smaller file sizes as well as over 145 minor changes and performance enhancements.
