Looking over the horizon

A Forbes article asks "what's next from Apple?" With IBM reportedly delivering a 90 nanometer G5 processor already, and plans for 65 nanometer chips by 2005 and 45 nanometers in 2007, it would seem that Steve Jobs will be able to make good on his promise to ship 3GHz Macs by summer, 2004. Forbes, along with industry insiders, speculates that Apple will shortly release Power Macs running at 2.4 to 2.6GHz, and that a G5-based PowerBook might appear by the summer.

However, ultrawideband has Bluetooth's struggles working in its favor. If Bluetooth continues to falter, the gap in the market will be a great opportunity....

Storms on the Horizon 04/13/2004 07:22 AM
It appears that both PEAR and Java continue to swim in stormy waters. In two separate stories:

- Harry Fuecks discusses the pickle over PEAR. IMHO, a small group of people have control over the direction of PEAR. If you like what they are doing, then great. If you don't, you get into these discussions to let off steam.

- James Gosling responds to Java sellout rumors by Sun. However the question as to whether Sun can transform themselves into a more diversified company without imploding remains to be seen.
