Titanium Mesh Titties

Titanium Mesh Titties 07/01/2004 10:48 AM

pic-rei-12.jpg imageWhile metallic pleasure bots are high, high up on the lists of gadgets we'd like to see in the near future, we're not so sure that implanting titanium mesh under the breasts of women is the way to get the party started. Nein, der boobenkreiger ist gut, says Dr. Ziya Saylan, a German doctor who has developed the technique that over two dozen women have already tried. The idea is that the titanium will hold up the huge breast implants, preventing the sagging that many older women are getting implants to correct in the first place. If anyone has a picture of the implants, we'd love to see them (outside of the breasts, if you please).
Read - What a lovely pair of titaniums! [IOL]

Update: Reader Stoffel Van Eeckhoudt sent this link to the home page of the procedure that has ample pictures of both the mesh and of women's breasts both before and after the procedure. It's NSFW, unless you work in a country where the sight of womens' jububbles doesn't cause enduring national scandal.

Titanium Series Surfaces 03/19/2005 03:20 AM
There is little doubt that Rebelscum reader Joe from Norwalk, Ohio has got a great wife. Not only does she buy him Star Wars toys, she buys him cool new Star Wars toys. An example of that can be seen in the images above of the new Titanium series. She found the TRI-Fighter, Anakin’s Starfighter, AT-RT, Y-Wing, A-Wing, and Republic Gunner while shopping at the local Wal*Mart. While other toys at Wally*World won’t ring up, all of these pictured above got the green light. Oversight or not included in the big April 2nd release? Who cares if you can get them!

cruzer-titan.jpg imageWhen EverythingUSB reviews the SanDisk Cruzer Titanium, they give it high marks for having nice included bundled software and a high-speed, USB 2.0 connection. You'll like the $100 flash drive because it's made of a shiny, impress-your-friends metal, with a retractable USB bit and a glowy blue LED. For something that goes in your pocket and has a very real chance of being sat on by a melty creature, titanium may end up being a very smart choice - just leave it out of the pocket with the keys, of course.

SanDisk Corp. on Thursday also added a 2GB model to its Titanium line of flash drives, which feature an outer shell made of a titanium alloy created by Liquidmetal Technologies. It will ship in April with a US$249.99 price tag, joining the currently available 512MB ($84.99) and 1GB ($169.99) versions. Like the other Titanium drives, it ships with three Windows-only utilities -- the encryption software CruzerLock 2, the Outlook data synchronization tool CruzerSync and the file backup application Cruzer PocketCache -- as well as a pocket clip, a keychain ring and a lanyard. Mac OS X v10.1.2 or higher is required.

Xbox 2 to Use Proprietary Discs?

Xbox 2 to Use Proprietary Discs? 12/15/2003 03:16 PM
Microsoft's career page contains a very interesting job advertisement. The ad says that the Xbox Team "is looking for a strong PM/Engineer to manage the design and development of the Xbox Game Disc for the next generation Xbox console." Moreover, the ad stresses the importance of anti-piracy technology in the development of the new discs for the next generation console. Although it is possible that MS will simply try to incorporate sophisticated anti-piracy features in the now standard DVD medium, it is probably easier for them to develop a proprietary format. Nintendo did it with their GameCube discs, and they were quite effective in combating piracy -- so why not Microsoft?

If Plastic Discs Are Dead, What's Next?

If Plastic Discs Are Dead, What's Next? 03/22/2005 05:03 PM
Wired Magazine is now suggesting that discs are dead as a storage medium. With all the battling going on over the next generation of DVD technology, Wired's products editor, Robert Capps, notes that not very many people seem to care about the new "high definition" audio CDs that have come out. Instead, everyone's focused on getting an iPod and digitizing their music. While video is definitely more difficult to transport via the internet, the argument is that the technology is improving for compressing and transmitting larger files. Of course, it might be interesting to put Capps in a debate with Mark Cuban -- who also thinks that discs are dead, but that portable hard drives or flash drives will take their place. Cuban's argument is that "storage is expanding far more quickly than upload or download speeds to our homes," so it's going to be more efficient to move around hard drives than bits of high definition content. With some already experimenting with offer ing content on iPods, it is beginning to look like this battle for the next plastic disc technology may be a waste of time. Update: Then again, some analysts think discs will be big business for the next five years. Of course, analysts always seem to be overly positive in their predictions -- it's what helps sell reports.

Who Made Your Blank Discs?

Who Made Your Blank Discs? 03/19/2005 02:22 AM

You may think that you know what manufacturer made you blank CD or DVD discs, it was  Fujifilm, TDK Electronics, Ritek, Verbatim, Imation, Hewlett-Packard or another recognizable brand. You would be wrong.  In fact, most of this blank media is manufactured by a short list of companies: India's Moser Baer, Japan's Ricoh and Taiyo Yuden, and Taiwan's CMC Magnetics, Prodisc Technology and Optodisc Technology. The major name brands that actually create their own CD’s are Sony and Philips.

Of the manufacturers that actually make the media, Taiyo Yuden is the one recognized as the best, with the highest quality product. Trying to figure out who makes your media is not easy. The best website for talking about the brands and the media and what are some great deals for media online is Digitalfaq.com.

Here is more from the article on WiredSome media can burn reliably faster than its rated speed. A DVD+R might be rated at 4X burn speed, yet with certain recorders, it can be burned at 8X. The factors that contribute to high- or low-quality media are varied. Several choices are on the market, and which one is used can affect a disc's reflectivity, and thus its readability. But beyond that, says Pieper, "if your dye is unevenly spread, or the other materials and workmanship are shoddy, it doesn't matter what dye is used." Also, Pieper says if the glue job on the platter is sloppy, "the media literally falls apart."  Taiyo Yuden media stands as the golden child for blank-media enthusiasts. Popular opinion swings the other way for manufacturers such as CMC Magnetics and Princo.

As a follow up to previous Bigger Disk external storage drives, there's no question the 1.6TB version is impressive, smashing together four 400GB drives into a single array that requires no special drivers to be used in Windows XP or Mac OSX. And it looks sufficiently swanky, too, if aluminum doesn't grate on you.
