Japanese company Tunewear has announced its Prie line of cases for the iPod mini. They come in four colors -- key lime, ruby pink, canvas gray and jet black -- with a choice of two front panel designs, Open Face or Classic Face. The former holds the iPod mini in place and features a flap that opens to reveal the front of the MP3 player. The latter covers its entire body, except for click wheel and control access, and covers its LCD screen with clear vinyl. Both front panel designs still allow access to the headphone jack and dock connector. In addition, you have two strap style choices, one that includes a long strap and a short one and another that offers the long strap and a built-in loop on the back of the case for attaching to your belt or bag. No pricing was offered by Tunewear.

Hfo:Design subsidiary Tunewear has introduced its Prie Podwallet, a new iPod carrying case that also contains room for cables, headphones, iPod peripherals, six slots for credit cards and ID, cash and more. It's also got space for Tunewear's own forthcoming Tunemax 20 battery life extender for iPod. A transparent vinyl window on its front enables you to view the iPod, while a side accessory and headphone hole lets you connect and access the hold switch. A multi-belt loop on the back side of the Podwallet lets you hook it to straps or belts, and it's adjustable using a push-button attachment. The Prie Podwallet is available in Ruby Pink and Jet Black finishes. Tunewear said it's looking for distributors and retailers now; pricing was not announced.

The new patterns include Silver Crocodile, Black Crocodile, Python and Black Enamel. Each are expected to be available by the end of March 2005 for US$54 each. The Prie Hook features a metal hook that makes it easy to attach to any kind of loop like a belt or strap. The case is made of genuine leather.

Tokyo-based Tunewear on Wednesday announced four new accessories for use with the iPod or iPod mini: Prie Hook cases, Poptune removable wrappers, Waterwear water-resistant cases and aluminum clips for the company's Icewear mini cases. Prie Hook, which will ship in mid-January for US$54, features a large metal hook that you can use to attach the leather case to a belt loop or other spot. A flap at the bottom opens for charging the MP3 player in a dock; slots at the top and bottom allow access to all the ports. It's available in two models, one that fits all 4G iPods -- including the iPod photo -- and one that fits the iPod mini; the hook on the latter doesn't swivel 360 degrees, however.

Tunewear Aluminum Clip for iPod shuffle 02/05/2005 10:17 PM

shuffle_clip.jpg imageGood morning, job seekers. Who here thinks the iPod shuffle's end cap is just begging to be lost? Why not invest in something a bit more practical, like this aluminum end cap with clip from Tunewear. It may only be a minute difference, but having your shuffle clipped to your jacket or bag sounds a lot better than just letting it dangle on a lanyard or sit in your pocket. And while Tunewear has only announced the clip in Japan, they do sell their products here, so I expect we'll see it soon enough. Since it's aluminum, you can pretend your little flash player is a PowerPod shuffle, too.

The Icewear covers for the iPod mini are quite attractive, are they not? Made from the same silicon used in divers' masks, the Icewear covers the entire unit except for the controls, which it leaves accessible to touch, and the screen. Oh, and the top and some of the bottom. So quite a bit of it is open, really. Still, though, the ribbed sides and grippy edges should extend the life of your little beauty by quite a long time.

cronson.jpg imageGawker's new editor Jessica Coen points out these little hoodie iPod cases from a little boutique called "C.Ronson" located somewhere in a district called "Nolita" in a town she says is named "Manhattan." And then she started puking, and I don't know why. When former Gawker editor Anna Wintour Choire Sicha was puking, we always knew it was time to force feed him a donut and hide his needles, but now I'm just lost.

So, try a donut, Jessica! From the look of his desk, Choire always seemed to like the powdered ones.

CITY Magazine has a spread featuring a few high-end iPod cases - you know, the kind that sometimes cost as much as the iPod itself. Some of the cases, from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Dior Homme, and Gucci, are okay, if surprisingly plain, but Kate Spade's fuchsia mock-crocodile leather case with brass accents and Paul Smith's colorful stripes look like a lot more fun - and are almost affordable, at $55 and $115 each (I said almost).

onkyo_himd_ipod.gif imageFor roughly $880, you too can own Onkyo's new "X-N9" Hi-MD/CD minicomponent system. I really don't know why this thing is so expensive, but it may have something to do with the fact that it features an "RI port" for that RI Dock we talked about the other day. It's also an Onkyo product, a brand name that somehow merits an enormous price increase.

Revamps to Commenting and RSS

Revamps to Commenting and RSS 02/15/2003 08:39 PM

In my previous post, I asked that users who requested my old RSS file in news aggregators update to the new link. Phil left a comment which raised a good point. From what he said, I have changed my error handling to return an HTTP message of 301 Moved Permanently and redirect to the new RSS feed when the old feed is requested. I've tested the results with Syndirella and it worked. I could tell it worked because my access logs showed my request as one for the new URL, and not the old URL, even though I requested the old one. In the past I would have received an error code as well. However, let me know if you have any problems.

Also new, I completed the non-dynamic commenting system. Most of you will never see it because your browser supports the dynamic version, but this will affect a few people.
