L7-filter is a Netfilter match module which classifies packets based on application layer (OSI layer 7) data. This means that it is able to classify packets as HTTP, FTP, Gnucleus, Kazaa, etc., regardless of ports. It complements existing matches that classify based on port numbers, packet length, TOS bits, and so on. Combined with Linux QoS, it allows for full layer 7 packet shaping.

Changes:
This release adds a definition for SIP (Session Initiation Protocol).

Design Pattern Toolkit 3.0 (Default
branch)
04/06/2005 11:41 PM
The Design Pattern Toolkit is an Eclipse-enabled tool for generating applications based on customizable model-driven architecture patterns. This plug-in can speed up the development of common types of applications by the use of patterns that capture best (or current) practices for the design and implementation of those applications. Users apply patterns to information encoded in XML files to generate multiple Eclipse resources of multiple types that together make up an application. The toolkit has a component for pattern-based resource generation as well as a component that supports pattern development and distribution.
Changes:
Enhancements and fixes were made. This version runs on Eclipse 3.0, RAD, and RSA. An updated "Exemplar Analysis" tool edits a model of a transformation from which DPTK transformations can be generated.

Resolver User Layer Interface 0.33
(Default branch)

Resolver User Layer Interface 0.33
(Default branch)
06/17/2005 04:58 PM
RULI stands for Resolver User Layer Interface. It's a library built on top of an asynchronous DNS stub resolver. RULI provides an easy-to-use interface for querying DNS SRV resource records. The main goal is to promote wide deployment of SRV-cognizant programs. RULI aims to automatically perform all the SRV logic described by RFC 2782, and to comply with related specifications. As a side-effect, RULI also provides a general-purpose, event-driven, asynchronous, stub DNS resolver. There are bindings for Perl, PHP, Guile/Scheme, Java, and Lua. IPv6 is supported.
License: GNU General Public License (GPL)
Changes:
This release adds support for RFC3484 destination address selection rules and changes ruli_getaddrinfo() to respect the address family specified in hints.

GNU Transport Layer Security Library

GNU Transport Layer Security Library
1.2.1 (Default branch)
04/05/2005 11:56 AM
GNU Transport Layer Security Library is a library which implements a secure layer over a reliable transport layer such as TCP/IP. It implements the TLS 1.0 and SSL 3.0 protocols, accompanied with authentication methods such as X.509, OpenPGP, and SRP.
Changes:
gnutls_bye() will no longer fail when RDWR is used and application data are available for reading. More strict checks for the SRP parameters. A warning to certtool when MD5 is being used for digital signatures. Optimizations ("-O2 -finline-functions") are not enabled by default. The option --get-dh-params has been added to certtool in order to get the parameters included in the library primes and generators. Improved semantics of X.509 certificate verification. Nettle self tests now build properly. Some memory leaks in DHE and RSA-EXPORT cipher suites have been eliminated. Some X.509 attribute functions have been added.

layer to Linux
08/20/2004 02:24 PM
When Lycoris released a new version of its popular Linux operating system, Desktop/LX 1.4, this week, it also debuted a new application integration infrastructure, nicknamed AI2 (A-I-squared). The company claims that AI2 "bridges the gap" between commercial Linux applications and the Linux desktop. Already, one major Linux application vendor, NeTraverse, has had its flagship desktop product, Win4Lin Workstation, integrated with Lycoris' Desktop/LX operating system using the AI2 system. But is AI2 really as revolutionary as Lycoris claims? Even if it is, does it matter?

Kernel Mode Linux 2.4.30_001 (For Linux
2.4 branch)

Kernel Mode Linux 2.4.30_001 (For Linux
2.4 branch)
04/05/2005 11:56 AM
Kernel Mode Linux is a technology which enables the execution of user programs in a kernel mode. In Kernel Mode Linux, user programs can access kernel address space directly. Unlike kernel modules, user programs are executed as ordinary processes (except for their privilege level), so scheduling and paging are performed as usual. Although it seems dangerous, the safety of the kernel can be ensured through such methods as static type checking, software fault isolation, and so forth.
Changes:
This version was merged with the 2.4.30 Linux kernel.

(Linux 2.4 branch)

Openwall Linux kernel patch 2.4.30-ow1
(Linux 2.4 branch)
04/08/2005 10:32 AM
The Openwall Linux kernel patch is a collection of security "hardening" features for the Linux kernel. In addition to the new features, some versions of the patch contain various security fixes. The "hardening" features of the patch, while not a complete method of protection, provide an extra layer of security against the easier ways to exploit certain classes of vulnerabilities and/or reduce the impact of those vulnerabilities. The patch can also add a little bit more privacy to the system by restricting access to parts of /proc so that users may not see what others are doing.
Changes:
This release was updated to Linux 2.4.30.

MOSIX Cluster Management 1.13.1 for
Linux 2.4.30 (Linux 2.4 branch)
04/07/2005 10:26 AM
MOSIX is a management system that allows a cluster of x86 nodes to perform like a parallel computer. It is particularly suitable to run intensive computing and massive I/O applications. In a MOSIX system there is no need to modify applications, link them with any library, or even assign processes to different nodes. It is done automatically, just "fork and forget", like in an SMP system. MOSIX is geared toward improved performance, overhead-free scalability and ease-of-use.

Linux-VServer 1.9.5 (Linux 2.6
Development branch)

Linux-VServer 1.9.5 (Linux 2.6
Development branch)
03/24/2005 05:25 AM
Linux-VServer allows you to create virtual private servers and security contexts which operate like a normal Linux server, but allow many independent servers to be run simultaneously in one box at full speed. All services, such as ssh, mail, Web, and databases, can be started on such a VPS, without modification, just like on any real server. Each virtual server has its own user account database and root password and doesn't interfere with other virtual servers.
Changes:
A small bug in IPv6 hiding was fixed, a memory leak in an error path was removed, and a mysterious double allocation issue in x25 was fixed. iunlink and barrier update for XFS as well as the proc/mounts virtualization were corrected. A new claim/release scheme replaces the double refcounting. Legacy support was separated, and a bunch of new limits/accountings were added (anon_rss, locks, shm, forks). A new ccap that protects network mounts was added. Compile time information was added to the proc info.

branch)
03/28/2005 08:36 AM
myXML is a PHP implementation of the W3C's DOM, XPath, and XSLT recommendations that does not require additional libraries. It allows you to take advantage of XML/XSLT technologies even if your provider does not support it. The DOM API features standard names for methods and properties and should be compatible with future releases of PHP. The library allows the execution of PHP code on the fly, and inserts result into a DOM tree or attribute value.
