Experimental attributes

Experimental attributes 02/10/2004 02:49 AM
There have been a number of thoughtful responses to my confessio n, the other day, about cheating on Web standards. Several folks recommended this approach:
<blockquote
   cite="http://www.betaversion.org/~stefano/linotype/news/35/"
   title="Stefano Mazzocchi">

</blockquote>
Jim White also made this intriguing proposal:
<blockquote cite="urn:name:Stefano%20Mazzocchi">

</blockquote>
Jim pointed me to the IANA registry of URN namespaces, noting that while 'name' is not among those registered namespaces, and the one you can find there -- RFC3043, Personal Internet Name (PIN): A URN Namespace for People and Organizations -- isn't quite right either, these are examples of valid ways to extend an attribute that takes a URI as its value. ...

Athens Gets Experimental

Athens Gets Experimental 12/30/2003 02:56 PM
The University of Georgia is entering a new phase of its WAGZone experiment: A year ago, the university and the Athens Clarke County government launched a Wi-Fi zone that covers 20 blocks of downtown. Since then, students have built 40 proof-of-concept projects that use the network. Now, the university has launched the Mobile Media Consortium as an academic-industry partnership to spur the development of technologies that use the network that can improve quality of life. Initial industry partners include HP, XcellNet, Air2Web, and ExecuTrain. The consortium hopes to add five more partners....

I've been having a good time with "You and We", a project from Born Magazine that invites you to "contribute your words and images to this continuously evolving, collective experiment." Users upload art, text and photos to be collaged together in a fast-moving montage that actually turns out to be pretty nice. So far there have been over a thousand contributors. The increasingly-noted Wikipedia launched WikiNews this week. WikiNews uses the open-editing structure to garner and refine news stories.

The result is a multi-feed object, somewhat like Google News . WikiNews is not without precedent, as the Korean OhMyNews service has been in operation for more than a year. Dan Gillmor argues that this may be the leading edge of popular or citizens' journalism.

Reference
04/30/2004 04:35 PM
This reference explains how to use the PDS Application Programming Interface (API) to allow client applications to access Project Server portfolio data. Client applications can programmatically log on to Project Server and use SOAP to call PDS API methods. The PDS implements a SOAP listener, which receives method calls in XML format and returns an XML response.

Integration Between Microsoft Project
and SAP/R3
04/13/2005 03:26 AM
The Project Group GmbH (TPG), one of Germany’s premier providers of add-in products, consulting services, and training for Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM), today announced Version 3.0 of its flagship PSLink® product. PSLink is the world’s leading interface between Microsoft Project and SAP/R3. Using PSLink, customers can synchronize project data in both directions between the two market-leading environments; simplify several tasks; and eliminate the risk of errors, because data administration in both systems is unnecessary. Version 3.0 of PSLink will be available shortly in its Standard Edition (SE) and Controlling Edition (CE). [PRWEB Apr 13, 2005]
