The Luke Skywalker (Imperial Stormtrooper Outfit) action figure is the only Power Of The Force figure based on costume or situation that wasn’t in Return Of The Jedi. Granted, one could argue the Han Solo (In Carbonite Chamber) could also fit into that category, but it wasn’t entirely based exclusively on the events of the other two films, so it loses out by default; making today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive stand alone in the crowd.

The vintage Han Solo (In Carbonite Chamber) was certainly a great action figure, and there are hardly any arguments to prove otherwise. That being said, it’s odd that today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive didn’t come with a weapon. Sure, one could counter by saying the huge ‘Carbonite Chamber’ makes up for it, but in truth that was to make up for the figure’s lack of eyebrows…again.

Props to Kenner for releasing the Han Solo (In Trench Coat) action figure a whole year after Return of The Jedi hit the theaters. Of course the toymaker could have profited more by releasing today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive in the film’s first wave, but with The Empire Strikes Back’s ambiguous ending, seeing the figure –even if it were blacked out—on a card back would have destroyed a lot of the film’s suspense. It’s a shame that Lucasfilm hadn’t thought of that before cutting and releasing a trailer for the film that shows the scoundrel fighting on Endor…

Talk about Essential Action figures. Even with the wrong weapon packed with it, the vintage Han Solo (Bespin Outfit) figure is easily the best rendition of the former spice smuggler. Not only is it completely proportionate –something this character’s figures have a hard time being-- it’s darn heroically sculpted. No matter what, this figure, added today to the Vintage Photo Archive, couldn’t have been made any better. Maybe that’s why Kenner had to throw extra gimmicks like material trench coats, big honking Carbonite slabs, and even *gasp!* the proper weapon with their follow up Hans…

We've got another update to our Photo Archives today with a new version of Dark Horse Comics' first Clone Wars graphic novel, this time specially-packaged with 2 figures from Gentle Giant Studios' Bust-Ups line. The Yoda figure is the same previously-released figure, but the Copper-Tinted Chewbacca figure is exclusive to this set. Available only at Borders and Waldenbooks stores, this set is a bit confusing, since Chewbacca is not part of the storyline, but this "spirit version" is a piece no completist can do without.

Previews UK has announced that Gentle Giant is set to offer a Chrome Stormtrooper mini-bust, to be made available this month. According to the latest issue the piece will have an SRP of £36.99, and due to its limited edition status allocations may occur. So far there has been no mention of availability in the U.S., but we expect to have more details on that soon.

Hot on the heels of our earlier report, Rebelscum reader Robert Rodgers sends this news: Hello, I got one of the Blackhole Stormtroopers and hadn't put it together yet, until I saw today's posting. I have one with the heavy blaster and arms in the raised postition. So looks like variants are out there. I included a picture.
