Microsoft is committed to maintaining compatibility. To help achieve this, the .NET Framework Code Coverage Edition enables you to give Microsoft direct feedback on what portions of the .NET Framework and Win32 you’re most reliant on. It allows you to collect and upload data on how .NET Framework and Windows code is used by managed applications and components that you have developed. By opting in, Microsoft provides you an instrumented version of the .NET Framework containing a tool that collects the code usage information behind the scenes. All you have to do is exercise your code under the watch of this tool, then save and send the data.

OpenSHORE 2.0.0 Beta 1 (Beta branch)

OpenSHORE 2.0.0 Beta 1 (Beta branch) 03/29/2005 09:16 AM
Screenshot SHORE (Semantic Hypertext Object Repository) is a hypertext repository that stores data about documents and data described by documents. Access to this information is provided as hypertext. The repository stores objects that appear in documents, together with their relations in a semantic net. Hypertext navigation follows these relations in the semantic net. The SHORE server works as an HTTP server, and the client is a standard Web browser. The repository uses PROLOG as its query language and the XSB system as its query engine.
Changes:
This release integrates the latest XSB Prolog version 2.7.1 (Kinryo) as the query engine. This offers the user sophisticated deductive query possibilities to find out all sorts of information inside stored documents and about the relations among them. OpenSHORE shows query results as hypertext, which leads the user directly to found documents, semantically marked text sections (objects), and relation end points. The query engine reads facts about documents on demand from an interface to the object-oriented database of OpenSHORE, so facts must not be copied for queries.

Roku Embeds 01/06/2005 02:32 PM
Roku has announced a version of its SoundBridge technology intended to be embedded in consumer electronics: Roku has received rave reviews for its stylish and technically adept--though expensive--devices for bridging sound and other media over wired and wireless networks. Their SoundBridge module includes all of the digital media playback technology and the pieces necessary for 10/100 Mbps wired and secure Wi-Fi networking. There's a lengthy list of protocols, music formats, and DRM-based streaming music services they support: Microsoft Windows Media Connect and Windows Media DRM 10 and OpenTalk, UPnP AV, Rhapsody, Internet radio...WMA, AAC, MP3, AIFF, WAV and LPCM file formats...protected WMA content from music services like Real Networks' Rhapsody, Napster, MSN Music, Musicmatch and Walmart.com. The only one missing? Apple's FairPlay protected version of AAC sold by the iTunes Music Store. In related news, Roku has released a beta 2.0 update for its PhotoBridge HD1000 digital media player that allows it to play unencrypted AAC files....

Palo Alto, Calif.-based digital media product maker Roku announced Monday that its SoundBri dge network music player now ships with free Wi-Fi connectivity. Wireless networking was previously a US$50 option for the device. SoundBridge streams digital music and Internet radio from computers -- including Macs -- to powered speaker systems or stereo systems. Unlike Apple's own AirPort Express device, the SoundBridge incorporates a florescent display and a remote control that enables users to view information on artists and playlists and change the music they're listening to. The SoundBridge supports MP3, AAC, AIFF and WAV audio file formats, and it also plays directly from iTunes without needing any additional software to work (though it isn't able to play FairPlay-encrypted music purchased through the iTunes Music Store). The SoundBridge is available in M1000 and M2000 models, for US$249.99 and $499.99 respectively.
