Fuji Photo Film USA, Inc. announced on Wednesday five new FinePix digital cameras, three -- the E500, E510 and E550 -- in a new consumer-oriented E-series and two -- the S3100< /a> and S5100< /a> -- designated as replacements for the S3000 and S5000, respectively, in the company's prosumer S-series. The E500 features 4.1MP resolution, three color modes, four scene modes, 3.2x optical zoom and the ability to shoot 10fps (frames per second) Motion JPEG video with sound. It ships with a 16MB xD-Picture memory card, a USB 2.0 cable, an AV cable and two AA alkaline batteries. The E510 and E550 offer the same features and accessories, except for their capacity to shoot 5.2MP and 6.3MP pictures, respectively, while the E550 also bumps the optical zoom to 4x, increases its video quality to 30fps and includes a Super CCD HR sensor that can record 12MP images after processing.

Eastman Kodak Co. has unveiled a new redesigned printer dock and three new digital cameras -- DX7440, CX7530 and CX7330 -- in its EasyShare line. The new printer dock incorporates Pictbridge technology that makes it compatible with other brands of cameras; its multi-function connector works with EasyShare 600/6000 and 700/7000 series digital cameras. It produces 4 x 6-inch full-size and multi-image picture sheets with its thermal printing system and can transfer pictures to a computer as well as recharge your camera's battery. Minimum system requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.3. You'll be able to find the new printer dock on store shelves in June for US$149. Kodak's Web site lists July availability, but the company confirmed with MacCentral that most retailers will have it in June.

I just stopped by Amazon to check on some Web services stuff and noticed that they have all their Olympus cameras on sale, including the all-weather 3.2MP one I almost bought instead of my Sony camera. The Sony was my second choice, but I was impatient and Best Buy was out of the Olympus. I’m happy with the Sony and glad I bought it, but the Olympus has a lot of great features too.

It's called the MJU MINI Digital, and it's a 4-megapixel camera with a 1.8-inch screen, a metal body, unlimited movie recording. Plus it comes in six new colors, all of which will be found in the most stylish of pockets when it is released later this year in the UK for £250.

Multiple snaps in an elliptical orbit to Olympus for taking a chance on this model. I expect this one will be very popular.

Nikon announced on Thursday an addition to its line of professional SLR cameras, the D2X, as well as three new Coolpix cameras: the 4800, 8400 and 8800 models. In addition, the company introduced a new lens, the AF-S VR Nikkor 300mm f/2.8G IF-ED super-telephoto, which is compatible with all of its digital and film SLR cameras. Expected to ship in January 2005, the new lens offers two vibration reduction modes, a focus mode switch for choosing between manual-priority auto-focus and manual focus, a silent wave motor and Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass. No pricing was announced.

The camera also features a 1.5-inch LCD display, 3x optical zoom lens, the ability to record QuickTime movies, and six preset still image shooting modes. The D-535 Zoom has 12MB of on-board internal memory and stores additional images on xD-Picture Cards. The camera is PictBridge-compatible, to output directly to supported printers, and features a USB interface to connect to Macs or PCs. It measures 3.4 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches and weighs 4.9 ounces. It comes in silver, blue, black, white, red and copper, and measures 3.74 x 2.18 x 1.08 inches, weighing 3.7 ounces. There have been an increasing number of "filler" stories from reporters who need something to write about and notice a 419 scam email in their inbox and decide to write the scammer back. Either these reporters don't realize that this article has been written 100 times before, or they just don't care. However, a group of other folks have decided that instead of using the experience to write up an article, they're going to do their best to publicly humiliate 419 scammers. It's turned into something of a sport for many - who create elaborate personas and stories in order to scam the 419ers themselves. Of course, they're trying to trick them out of their dignity, rather than their money.
