Microsoft
06/24/2005 03:15 PMWeb designers often struggle when trying to decide between two
competing development platforms: Microsoft’s Windows-based ASP.Net and
a set of open source tools known as LAMP. To provide clarity for those
caught in the crossfire between the two camps, Radar Media Group, Inc.
(http://www.radarmedia.com), an integrated marketing communications
agency which develops interactive websites using both approaches
announced today a set of guidelines to help designers choose wisely
between the two. [PRWEB Jun 24, 2005]

12/30/2004 11:16 AMThe newspaper said the software giant had confirmed the step down
after one of the service's biggest backers, eBay Inc. (EBAY: news,
chart, profile), said Wednesday it would stop using Passport next
month in favor of its own product. It said few customers had taken up
the Microsoft (MSFT: news, chart, profile) service. Passport keeps
track of online consumers' credit card and password information as
they move from site to site. It has drawn the ire of privacy
advocates, industry regulators and technology security experts, who in
2003 found a security glitch that could have led to massive identity
theft, the paper said.

eBay Drops Microsoft Passport Sign-In
12/30/2004 11:16 AMAuction site eBay announced to members on its Web site Wednesday
afternoon that it will drop support for Microsoft's Passport and .NET
Alerts by late January. Users were told that "once this takes place,
the Microsoft Passport button that is currently displayed on Sign In
pages will be replaced with links to a page with more information."
The announcement came with practically no warning; however, in recent
months, it had become much more difficult to sign up for alerts
through Microsoft's .NET services as the pages to do so were buried on
eBay's site.
