Video Game Controllers That Let You Play
Dirty
11/06/2003 04:10 AMIt's pretty common in many (though certainly not all) sports for
players to go an extra step or two to push an opposing team when
they're down. Maybe hit an opponent a little extra hard or try to add
an extra shove when a ref isn't looking. It seems that some dirty
tricks come naturally in many sports - but not in video games until
now. There's a new video game controller out there that will let you
momentar
ily take control of your opponents controller. Sometimes it gives
you full control, and others it just messes up their controller
altogether. Consider it the video game version of an extra shove.

Sega Neo Geo Controller for PS2
Sega Neo Geo Controller for PS2
12/29/2004 12:01 PM
For me, nothing beats a good D-pad and an analog
thumbstick for gaming, but for the ultimate fighting game
championships, it's hard to go wrong with a nice 8-way joystick. And
while it's not my favorite stick from history (the metal-shod,
Ghostbusters II NES Advantage probably is nearest to my heart),
the Neo Geo controller certainly has a certain something, not the
least of which is that it was the first home gaming console controller
that had a proper joystick (Atari, et al not withstanding).
So all that's to say, Sega Logistics and SNK Playmore have teamed
up to release a new version of the classic controller, called the 'Neo
Geo Stick 2,' with 4 extra buttons to work with the Sony Playstation
2. It's a strange landscape, isn't it, with Sega releasing an SNK
design on a Sony platform.

Sega to Release USB Version of Saturn
Controller
Sega to Release USB Version of Saturn
Controller
07/03/2004 03:26 PM
Originally planned as just a bundle for a Japanese
version of Puyo Pop Fever, heavy demand from fans has caused Sega to
release a new PC and Mac compatible USB version of its semi-famous
Sega Saturn controller. The controller is the original,
pre-Nights version (read: no analog) and will now "match the
pearly white of Macintosh products." Although there's no plans to
release the $30 controller in the States, it's likely importers like
Lik-Sang will sell it via their website -- preorders can be made at
Sega Direct, but I don't know that they ship to the US.
It would be very, very nice if the console makers would start
releasing USB versions of their existing controllers, with PC and Mac
drivers, as well. I'd gladly pay $30 for a USB version of the PS2
controller instead of having to buy a third party breakout box that
doesn't always work as intended.
