Spymac speculation: the 5GB iPod

Spymac speculation: the 5GB iPod 12/02/2003 03:04 AM
When a company is leading a saturated market by several percentage points with a $299 low-end model, most would say there’s little room for improvement. With accolades galore, a corporation enjoying such a position could indeed rest until the gap closes, only to scramble once the competition catches on. Indeed… but those other companies don’t have Steve Jobs as a CEO.

Merry Christmas, Spymac!

Merry Christmas, Spymac! 12/25/2004 05:20 PM
On Spymac this Christmas, Forums are littered with missed gifts, Bamboozled, glossed-over wish lists With iPod minis and iTrips. For some, the tunes will be rocking, For others, megahertz clocking But what of all of those stockings With neither socks nor a dock nor The shocking bow-wrapped black box With a Power Mac peeking out from Under out of a bounty of wound-up frowns Not an ounce of astoundment, wow or surprise Decline in all shapes and sizes, Stifled cries and replies Of, “Oh, that’s not the right size? Should it have been bigger? White? Pink, blue or green? Did you want the red click wheel Or the new color screen?” It seems the holiday spirit Has gone the way of the Cube It’s presents now that we care about Instead of renewing The vows of tradition and family and love we hold dear, having replaced what were tidings with an endless frontier Of wrapping and ribbon And piles of debt, After two months of sweat There’s no time for regret, It’s Christmas, so let it Be, lest we forget it, If you got the wrong iPod There’s always Apple Store credit. Merry Christmas, from the Spymac News Team

You can now keep track of the Spymac Forums right from your Mac OS X desktop, thanks to the work of Spymac members Dave Yuill (thalez) and Ben Hartig (MacTech). Spymac Analysis: Home on iPod

Spymac Analysis: Home on iPod 12/07/2003 04:06 PM
When Panther was released in October, Apple’s Web site inadvertently posted a feature that never quite made it to the prime time. Called “Home on iPod,” it appeared as a small blurb on Apple.com’s “Mobility” page for a few short hours, with the following description: Ever thought you could carry your home in the palm of your hands or in your pocket? You can. Panther's Home on iPod feature lets you store your home directory - files, folders, apps - on your iPod (or any FireWire hard...

Spymac Speculation: What to expect
(IMHO)
12/28/2003 12:29 PM
In the wake of my past two Macworld San Francisco speculation articles, rumors have been swirling surrounding both iPod and iLife updates. That, coupled with the usual surprises and last-minute decisions, adds up to a very exciting Macworld (and well into January, no doubt). Last year’s Macworld was a whirlwind of releases and new technologies, which saw updated PowerBooks, Airport Extreme and iLife. As I’ve said before, this year also looks to see another iLife demonstration, with...

Spymac speculation: MWSF hardware

Spymac speculation: MWSF hardware 12/14/2003 12:24 PM
With Macworld just three weeks away, the rumor mill has been virtually silent, leading to increased conjecture about the event: will Steve Jobs recognize the Mac’s 20th anniversary with a special edition machine? Will he continue San Francisco’s streak of stunning releases by popping a G5 into the iMac and redesigning it to match the new aluminum feel of Apple’s pro products? Will his turtleneck be red?
