Today, Microsoft Corp. and European mobile operators O2 and TeliaSonera announced plans to deliver real-time location services designed to enable businesses to significantly improve the way they locate, track and manage their mobile assets and mobile work force. The real-time location services are built around Microsoft® MapPoint® Location Server (MLS) and enable developers, independent software vendors (ISVs) and system integrators to create and deploy location-aware business applications for their customers by combining the real-time location data from the O2 and TeliaSonera networks with the rich mapping and location capabilities from the Microsoft MapPoint Web Service.

Instant messenger has proven relatively immune to the scourge of spam that affects email today. Tagging messages from those on your buddy list, you can implement a system similar (in theory) to SPF, prioritizing mail from your buddies. For an extra layer of authentication, write a plugin for the instant messenger that communicates "i've sent you message-id foo", to confirm that the email is indeed from a known contact. At this point anything with a From: address that matches a contact, but a Message-ID: for which no notification was received, is automatically trapped as questionable and held for review (unless, at some point, the Message-ID: is received from the sender in question)....

Zombie SMTP 1.0 (Default branch)

Zombie SMTP 1.0 (Default branch) 03/19/2005 03:22 AM
Zombie SMTP is a tool written to help interrupt spammers' activity. It pretends to be an SMTP server but all it really does is hold onto a connection for 20 mins if the source IP address of the connection is registered in one or more of the pre-defined RBLs. The purpose of this is to simply waste spammers' time if they try to connect to Zombie SMTP to relay their spam. Any connection from a machine not listed in the RBLs is automatically disconnected, this is to prevent authentic servers from tying up their resources who for some reason try to connect to this SMTP server.
