U.S. broadband use jumps 38 percent 12/24/2004 12:09 PM

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission on Wednesday released statistics revealing that broadband usage had jumped 38 percent over the last year in the United States. At the end of June in 2003 there were 23.5 million broadband lines, compared to the 32.5 million in June of 2004, as stated in the semiannual report. The United States continues to trail behind other countries in the broadband subscriber rankings, to 13th place, according to rankings by the International Telecommunications Union.
