Adobe has posted a tryout of its After Effects 6.5 Professional application, a tool aimed at digital video effects artists. The demo offers all the features found in the full version of After Effects 6.5 Professional, except MPEG-2 encoding, Adobe fonts and bundled third-party applications. It will expire 30 days after it is first launched, however. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.2, a PowerPC processor (G5 recommended), 128MB RAM (256MB recommended) and 150MB hard drive space.

This may be totally useless but ... I accidently drag and dropped an Illustrator (.ai) file into an open Safari window and, after a long pause, it opened it with Schubert's PDF plugin. This also worked in Firefox. This works...

Zumedia Software has released Automata, a file-generating software designed to save Adobe Illustrator 10.0.3 users from having to perform repetitive tasks. Automata merges templates -- Illustrator files containing place holders -- with a text source file containing content info. Zumedia said that Automata can output up to 1,500 files per hour, and it outputs to Illustrator, PDF, EPS, JPEG, GIF and Flash formats. Automata for Illustrator CS is coming soon. Automata 1.0 costs US$135 for a single license; that includes an interactive user guide and 43 minutes of QuickTime video tutorials.
