Fujitsu Ups HandyDrives

Fujitsu Ups HandyDrives 12/19/2004 03:01 PM

handydrive_Up.jpg imageFujitsu has upgraded its bus-powered HandyDrive portable hard drives to include storage options as capacious as 100GB. The largest version comes in at about $200, which isn't an awful price for something so potentially convenient. The FAT32-formatted drives will work with pretty much any modern operating system, although the bus-powered nature suggests you will want to use something with real USB 2.0 support and not just any old flimsy hub.

Fujitsu KioskBot

Fujitsu KioskBot 09/13/2004 09:00 AM

fujitsu_kioskbot.jpg imageFujitsu has been showing off its new robot with a computer display embedded in its chest, designed to act as a sort of mobile kiosk for museums, shopping malls, and office buildings (or wherever you need a friendly robot, I'm sure). And it runs Windows XP Embedded, so if you want to install your favorite first person shooter and really play against a bot, you totally can. Should hit the streets in 2005.

Fujitsu Multipad

Fujitsu Multipad 08/02/2004 10:25 AM

fujitsu_multipad.jpg imageFujitsu has a new "PDA for Professionals" called the Multipad ("Leeloo Dallas, Multipad"), an oddly-shaped but strangely-appealing Pocket PC unit with built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Compact Flash, and miniSD slots, all wrapped around a 400MHz Intel CPU. Sadly, it still has the lower-resolution 320 by 240 screen that is typical of lower-ended PocketPCs. You'd think in something so full-featured (and full priced, likely) they would have sprung for the juicier screen.

Despite the numeric keypad, the Multipad isn't a phone, either. Instead, it looks like its designed for use in inventory systems and other business-oriented applications.

A Week with the Fujitsu F900IT 06/29/2004 12:16 PM

aweek_foma.jpg imageIf you live in Japan, or just like to pretend you do, or perhaps just like to lust after some of their electronics options (there we go!), this "Week with the Fujitsu F900IT" report on Dottocomu is not to be missed, as Aragoto walks through the features of what is, arguably, DoCoMo's nicest FOMA phone. It's also one of Japan's first phones to support Bluetooth headsets, he says, something I was not aware was so lacking -- maybe we're not as far behind in the game as we thought.

Fujitsu DESKPOWER TX90L/D

Fujitsu DESKPOWER TX90L/D 04/19/2005 11:04 AM

big_deskpower.gif imageFujitsu's DESKPOWER TX now earns the title of "desktop with largest integrated LCD," if there is such a thing. At 32", the screen of the DESKPOWER TX90L/D is far larger than others in its class. I'm pretty disappointed in the resolution, though, at a mere 1360 x 768. I might add that the TX90L/D is the first machine to support the digital recording of terrestrial digital broadcasts, but we'll stay away from that feature as basically no one outside Japan even knows what "terrestrial digital broadcasts" are.

Fujitsu Pocket LOOX v70

Fujitsu Pocket LOOX v70 07/07/2004 08:04 AM

pocket_loox_v7.jpg imageFujitsu is releasing a new Pocket PC in Japan, the Pocket LOOX v70 within the next couple of weeks, with a 3.7-inch VGA screen and a 1.3-megapixel camera. It looks like a nice unit -- pretty typical for the current high-end generation Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition models -- but with a current indicated price for around $730, you'll probably want to wait until Fujitsu imports it here, purchase a different brand of Pocket PC, or do something about that weak dollar.

The Pocket LOOX v70 is one of the first PDAs to use the newly-announced "Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software for Pocket PC Japanese Version," a self-explanatory iteration of the latest Pocket PC OS from Microsoft.

Two New Pocket PCs from Fujitsu-Siemens:
Loox 410 and 420
06/07/2004 04:07 PM

fujitsu_loox400.jpg imageTwo new Pocket PCs from Fujitsu-Siemens, the Pocket LOOX 410 and 420. Both have 240 x 320 pixel 65k transflective screens, Bluetooth and infrared, and SDIO, while the 420 alone has integrated WiFi. The 410 gets a 300MHz Intel XScale PXA255, while the 420 putts along with a 400Mhz version, both driven by Windows Mobile 2003. All in all, very nice looking, physically, but a little behind the cutting edge of internals (where's the hot VGA screens or the Bulverde processors?) One nice touch, though, is the battery buffer that gives users up to 30 minutes to swap in a new battery after the standard 1100 mAh/10 hour one runs down.
