Party Tues night

I'm pleased to announce that we've found the perfect place to have a party tomorrow night.  After all the sessions and BoFs - come on over.  It's about 1.5 miels from the hotel.

It's called Sparky's - the oldest beer bar in San Diego.  Special thanks go out to Jenn Ramsey for pointing us to this place.

Here's a map of how to get there.  I'll print up some maps and publicize heavily tomorrow.  Look for details on the bulletin boards. 

Oh yah - for you folks NOT at Etech - this is a Laszlo Systems party - to get folks to know about all the coolio things Laszlo has to offer the world.  Like the SoundBlox jukebox in my blog gutter.

Laszlo Systems will be sponsoring a party at O'Reilly's Emerging technology Conference Tuesday night at the Emer3g1ng L0ft scene.

It'll start up at 10 PM - after the day's sessions are over.  Music, beer, booze and great conversation.

Location to follow.  Check out the Wiki .

The next night - will also be a party there - as well.

This year's Etech is looking to be quite a scene - what with the Emergent Democracy day long pre-sessions, etc.

It's public now, so wanted to let everyone know that Tantek Çelik is leaving Microsoft and going to work for Technorati. This is a loss for Microsoft and a major win for Technorati. Tantek did the rendering engine for IE on the Mac, represented Microsoft on the W3C, among other things, during his tenure at Microsoft (some of his more recent work won't be seen until Longhorn ships).

I learned it earlier this week (Tantek IM'd me). Tantek is one of those developers that you just wish you could bottle up and duplicate. I'm happy for him and Technorati, though.

Is the weblogging and RSS world picking up steam? Can you feel it yet?

Safari is forgetting to cache the media type it observed on the style attribute. It doesn't have this problem with link elements, just with style elements. Since your print sheet sets all the slides to be visible and hides the footer, that's what causes all the madness.

FWIW, this is issue #5 under "CSS Importing Bugs" on diveintomark's list. It is now fixed.
