Aspyr Media Inc. is offering gamers a playable demo version of their recently released title Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. Licensed from LucasArts, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb is a third person action game featuring the legendary adventurer and archaeologist seen in movies. This game brings Indy to 1935, where he must prevent a powerful Chinese artifact from falling into the wrong hands. Indy goes up against nefarious figures from the Chinese underground and, of course, Nazis, as he gains a new partner -- the lovely Mei Ying. The game features plenty of action as Indy makes his way through level after level of danger and pitfall, battling enemies, collecting artifacts and clues and more.

Joe Convention being held this weekend at the Contemporary Resort near the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida (July 1-4) is the stunning new Disney exclusive 12” Indiana Jones figure, complete with torch, jewels, a sarcophagus, and snakes! The toy, being produced by Hasbro as part of their GI Joe line, will be packaged to fit right in with the packaging of the Harry Moore designed 5” figures currently being sold at the parks. Aspyr Media Inc. offered up more details Wednesday about its forthcoming conversion of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the last game Aspyr has teamed up with LucasArts to bring to Mac gamers. Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is the sequel to last year's game Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, also brought to the Mac by Aspyr. Based in the Star Wars universe, this game puts players in the role of a new student learning the ways of The Force from Master Luke Skywalker.

On Wednesday the company finally announced that Splinter Cell for Mac has gone gold master, the last step before a game goes into production. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, licensed from Ubi Soft Entertainment, is a stealth-based 3D action game that features secret US government operative Sam Fisher, as he seeks to unravel a plot that left unchallenged could lead to nuclear war and a shift in world power. Aspyr Media expects Splinter Cell to hit store shelves starting October 2, 2004. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, G4/867MHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 1.7GB hard disk space, 32MB VRAM and DVD drive.

Here's one for the IT folks reading the site who can't stand people installing stuff on their own and making life difficult for others. It's the story of a law firm where a few people at the firm got some spam about some "great new screensavers" which they decided to install... which unleashed some sort of malicious file that eventually meant the entire network was shut down, and each PC had to be cleaned up individually, for a total cost of somewhere around $100,000. Who are these people who aren't skeptical of spam?
