ccbeauty.jpg imageThe Cordless Collector is a Bluetooth bar code reader that stores up to 250 barcodes at a time as you scan your own media, adding them wireless to the included MacOSX 'Collector' software that looks up the codes on the internet to help you build and categorize detailed lists of things you already own. So while for the less thorough among us won't find much use for it, the Cordless Collector could be a big help to those with massive CD and DVD collections (and who have friends that don't like to return things they've borrowed), small retail businesses, or people that just like to know exactly how many cans of french cut green beans they own at any given time. Bluetooth EDR: Triple Speed Bluetooth

Bluetooth EDR: Triple Speed Bluetooth 06/10/2004 11:38 AM

bluetooth.jpgThe Bluetooth SIG, the group that controls the standards that define the short-range radio networking technology has announced a proposal for a new version of Bluetooth that offers data rates almost 3 times as fast as the previous version. Called Bluetooth EDR (for Enhanced Data Rate), the new specification claims data rates of up to 2.1Mbps and remains backward-compatible with the original Bluetooth spec. No word, however, if the enhanced data rate will causes a proportionate decrease in range, not unlike 802.11g compares to 802.11b.

Society for HandHeld Hushing 12/17/2004 06:43 PM

Apparently I'm not the only one who gets annoyed with people yakking into cell phones in public places. The guys at Draplindustries Design Co. have come up with what might be a fun solution, of sorts. Introducing SHHH, the Society for HandHeld Hushing.

That's right. We're tired of having to listen to your loud, obnoxious conversations. We don't care about yer new haircut or what "he" might have said to you the night before. (We couldn't believe it either!) It doesn't interest us in the least whether or not you are going to attend the company Christmas party or when you need to pick up yer ugly kids from soccer practice. Nope. Don't want to hear it.

Simply download this PDF, cut 'em out, and "politely" hand them out to whoever is "spinning a yarn" next to you in the checkout line.

Microtek Handheld DVD Player

Microtek Handheld DVD Player 09/23/2004 07:12 AM

microtek_dvd_port.jpg imageMicrotek's new Handheld DVD Player forgoes the usual clamshell design of most portable DVD players to instead embed a 3.5-inch LCD screen right in the face plate (I guess it still opens like a clam, you know what I meant; not a folder). It addition to a fold-out stand for upright viewing, it also can output to a television via the supplied AV cables.

According to the website, it has a battery life of 21 cubed hours times 2, which if I'm calculating correctly is over eighteen thousand hours, so that means it's either using a D battery filled with the blood of saints, or my browser isn't rendering something correctly.
