Yahoo To Fully Support Not Fully
Supporting Firefox
03/19/2005 03:17 AM
Yahoo started to win some extra fans yesterday afternoon by announcing they were going to fully support Firefox on all their web offerings. If true, this would be great, since an increasing number of hard core internet users now rely almost exclusively on Firefox, and there's nothing more annoying than websites and services that force you to go back to IE. However, Yahoo quickly backtracked and claimed that actually, when they said they would fully support Firefox they meant they wouldn't fully support Firefox, though it's a nice idea.

Though I blogged on several occasions in the past that I though Firefox was not quite ready for primetime yet, I have been using it as my default browser for a couple of months now and don't intend to return to IE any time soon. Not that I think Firefox is perfect though, there are still some issues with it... (406 words)

It's beautiful and rich on features and support for all the fancy new CSS, Javascript and DHTML toys. If only it was a bit more Mac like I'd change my default browser from Safari. Until then it's great to have around for those rare times when Safari doesn't work. If you don't use a Mac, why are you still reading here? Go download it already!...

Firefox 1.0 and You 12/19/2004 03:25 PM
Now that Firefox 1.0 has been released, what enhancements, bug-fixes or general improvements to the browser have made surfing better for you? My most recent "how did I ever live without this?" feature: The ability to configure where links from other applications are opened in Firefox. This option can be accessed via Preferences: Advanced: Tabbed Browsing. I've got Firefox set to open links in "a new tab in the most recent window."

Firefox 1.0 is finally here. For those who have been following it's progress, it's been a long time coming. But your work is not done yet. Because it is now safe to recommend Firefox to non-geeks. Please do so. They need your help. Think of the children. The Mozilla servers are currently getting hammered, but you can grab the installer in a few seconds using the torrents: Win 32 Firefox 1.0 Torrent Linux i686 Firefox 1.0 Torrent When you live on the west coast and stroll on into work at 10am, you usually miss these types of early morning announcements. I actually heard about it on the radio this morning. Then I hit the snooze button. Oh yeah, check out the new default start page.
