LCD monitor prices to continue fall next
year
09/17/2004 06:43 AM

A REPORT from the Taiwanese Market Intelligence Center (MIC) said that prices of 17-inch LCD monitors will continue to fall next year. That's as a result of the manufacturers appearing to have recognised that if they want the lucrative CRT replacement market, they'll have to continue to cut prices.

The research group said that 17-inch LCD monitors will drop to around $300, but the "sweet spot" for such units could be as little as $200 to encourage movement away from CRT displays. The Center said that manufacturers of thin film transistor (TFT) LCD displays will have to break away from their idee fixee that large panels are the way to go to continue to compete against other technologies such as OLED (organic light emitting diode) technologies.

Large size LCD monitor prices crash

Large size LCD monitor prices crash 09/03/2004 08:23 AM
LACK OF DEMAND, over supply and huge stocks of product in the channel mean prices of large sized LCD pannels fell more than expected in August, research firm iSuppli said. That, according to a report from the firm, meant a "near time headache" for suppliers but could mean bargains for buyers. The LCD panels used in desktop PC monitors fell the most, said iSuppli in a report to its customers, meaning prices for 15-inch and 17-inch panels fell by around 18 to 19 per cent last month.

Despite hopes that sales of LCD TVs would pick up because of the Olympic Games last month, the reality was that sales were slow. And sales of LCD monitors appeared to be just as slow. Some desktop monitor firms have begun slashing prices on 15-inch and 17-inch LCD monitors already - there are stocks in the distribution panel getting dusty.

Private Line Demand Increases Even as
Prices Fall, says Insight Research
09/15/2004 02:12 AM
Despite increasing enterprise demand for bandwidth, the private line service market will see revenue decline by the close of 2004, according to a new market research study from The Insight Research Corporation. The sector’s revenue decline is a consequence of falling prices across all line speeds and segments. A private line is a dedicated non-switched circuit or communications channel that is leased for a specified period. This channel provides a private and direct connection between at least two sites, and is typically used by large enterprise data centers to connect to the Internet. [PRWEB Sep 15, 2004]
