Microsoft settle with Sendo

Microsoft settle with Sendo 09/14/2004 07:32 AM
Mobile device maker, Sendo, have agreed an out of court settlement with industry giant, Microsoft. The specifics of the agreement have not been disclosed, yet is purported to be around the hundreds of millions mark. Sendo are "extremely pleased with the terms".

The dispute arose over a partnership between the two companies. Sendo helped Microsoft into the mobile phone market, where it lacked expertise. After developing software with Sendo, supposedly Microsoft illegally gave information learned from Sendo to low cost OEM's in Asia. The two companies broke up 2 weeks before product launch, and Sendo sued Microsoft soon after.

Microsoft have long accepted lawsuits as part of its business model, and the payout might register as a blip on this years profit levels. Sendo intend to move onto to new products and technologies, and undoubtedly now have a good financial base to do this.

As the news of the European Union's sanctions against Microsoft, for what the EU considers the company's exploitation of its operating system monopoly, permeates the airwaves and fills column upon column in our national newspapers, news of a lesser-known, but likewise worthy case involving the software giant has gone virtually unreported. Future-Link, a New Jersey-based internet service provider, claims to have been on target to become one of the largest internet providers in 1997 when it was forced to cease its operations as a direct consequence of an alleged contract interference and misappropriation of Future-Link's customer base by what is now Microsoft.
