Episode 3

Episode 3 06/05/2005 11:55 PM
So, like so much of the world, I saw Revenge of the Sith last night. (Well, maybe the rest of the world didn't see it last night, but close enough) It wasn't horrible, and it's definitely true -- you can't have too many light saber battles in a movie. There were lots, and it made this a better film. Maybe Lucas should've put some in Temple of Doom. (You remember that movie -- it's the middle one of the Indiana Jones trilogy, the one still in cellophane because you never unwrapped it. Right next to Star Trek V, which...

SeattleWireless TV New Episode

SeattleWireless TV New Episode 12/31/2003 03:39 PM
This month, SeattleWireless TV features the New Zealand Wi-Fi treasure hunt and a Washington county's law enforcement network: In New Zealand, the community group did a treasure hunt where participants raced to find APs. They were given the rough coordinates of the first AP then clues to find the next AP were found in each AP's SSID. In Yakima County, Washington, various county agencies have built a Wi-Fi network made up of eight Cisco APs so that law enforcement agencies can share data. Police can share and access data such as mug shots, warrant information, and license plates. The APs are hung on city-owned facilities like water towers. Cops save around $50 per month per car by using the Wi-Fi network instead of CDPD, the old data network offered by some cellular operators. The cities in the counties also save as much as $700 a month because they aren't using the frame relay networks they did use. The city works with residents who may have their own Wi-Fi networks to ensure the best performance on all the networks....

What's a Downloaded Episode Worth? 03/14/2005 05:38 PM
Over the last few days I've been collecting information about what people would shell out for a pay-per-episode (not pay-per-view) series.  Compared to four years ago when I last pondered this question, people seem much more willing to spend a little to get good entertainment, which in itself is a massive shift of opinion.  But in the process of gathering this data, I think I may have discovered that you can only ever charge $1 for anything online, no matter how much it costs to make...
