Time To Take Down Some Cyber Criminals

Time To Take Down Some Cyber Criminals 06/08/2004 08:17 PM

He says that law enforcement still doesn't take online crime seriously enough, and that's letting these online criminals take over. His solution is to get prosecutors who will take down online criminals and make an example of them. In other words, someone needs to take charge and clean up cyberspace.

After an 18-week trial, a criminal court in Stuttgart, Germany, sentenced the convicted software pirate to three years in prison without parole for copyright infringement and selling counterfeit Microsoft Corp. software. The court also convicted the defendant's father for his participation in the counterfeiting scheme, issuing him a 16-month jail term and 100 hours of community service.
