It would be a quad 19Ghz monster, capable of processing massive amounts of data. At least sometimes It feels like that. Although, I don't think It ever goes much faster than 5Ghz (!). There is one day I definitely don't feel like that. Monday. Monday is so tiring, so long, so unwanted. After a long weekend I've got to get up early, and get on with life. My brain feels like a overclocked 1Mhz chip with no cache, no RAM, and a 2MB HD (that is going to die)! Tuesday isn't so hot either ;-)

Cyberkinetics Neurotechnology Systems, a company based in Foxborough, MA, has developed software to enable quadriplegics to use computers as well as any enable-bodied person. The hardware, called BrainGate, requires a silicon chip to be placed on the motor functions of the brain that control arms and legs, and a hole to be drilled in to the skull to allow a plug to interface with the chip and computer.
Available on normal desktop computers, this hardware will allow quadriplegics to surf the 'Net, write e-mails, and even play video games as well as the next person, and all by simply thinking the action.

The beginning of The Matrix, or just the greatest step in technology ever conceived? Either way, the future is here.

Do you work for an organization which has such tight controls on what you can do with your PC that you almost have to ask permission to stick a disk into the machine. Some companies go overboard in locking down computers to completely the opposite where you can configure your system without restraint. What happens when Windows refuses to run a program because it requires administrative privileges. John Undell has a great right up on the trust we are given or have with our computer setups. One of the downsides to the fact that people can work whenever they want is that it's sometimes hard for people to stop working. According to a study done in Europe, many overly stressed out workers are asking their bosses to cut their hours and salary just to gain back some control over their lives. Meanwhile, many bosses in IT are increasingly worried that their staff is going to burn out. Of course, a lot of that could be solved if companies hired more people, but they still seem hesitant to do so.

The Local Installation Source Tool is a wizard to help manage your Local Installation Source (LIS) on computers running Microsoft Office 2003. The LIS Tool allows you to enable or disable LIS, and to move the MsoCache folder to a new volume. This download is intended for use by customers and network administrators with LIS issues who contact Microsoft Product Support Services. Local Installation Source is a Setup feature. When a user installs Microsoft Office 2003 from a CD or a compressed CD image on the network, Setup copies any required installation files to a hidden folder on the local computer.
