On Friday, Kainjow Software released Pod2Go 1.0, a new utility that syncs with your iPod and downloads news, driving directions, weather forecasts, calendars, contacts and other information to the MP3 player. It turns text, whether it's driving directions from a Web site or messages stored in Apple's Mail application, into an iPod-compatible format -- contact files in older iPods with mechanical scroll wheels and notes in newer iPods with touch sensitive controls. You can also configure it to automatically sync data between your iPod and your Mac at certain times of the day or only when the device is connected to the computer. Pod2Go requires Mac OS X v10.2.7 or v10.3 and Safari and sells for US$12, with a 15-day trial available.
