Dialogue. I don't think it's possible to overstate the
importance of these decisions, yet I fear the public still somehow
believes they just have to do with some guys "out there," a handful of
terrorists down at Gitmo and some bad men in Navy brigs. The photos
accompanying these stories on the front pages will all be of alleged
terrorists, even though these cases are really all about the
president. The truth is, those alleged terrorists may, at most, win
the right to a hearing someday, in which they will probably be deemed
bad guys again and locked up anyhow. These cases have everything to do
with the scope of executive power and secrecy in wartime (and outside
of wartime if you throw in the Cheney energy task force case).

I will take a cue from
Manabu Nishikawa's Ring Plug and keep this post simple and easy to
use. Garnering an honorable mention in ID Magazine's Annual Design
Review, the Ring Plug is a standard powercord with a molded ring for
easy pulling. Couple this with a ground three-prong cable and I think
we've got a winner.

this as the most uselessly cool programming tool I've ever seen.
This class is meant to render images of the musical score of ring
tones notes used in cellular phones, defined in the RTTL format.
It parses the RTTL ring tones string to extract the information
about the author, duration, scale, beats per minute and the notes of
the tune.
Then it renders the score image using a customizable logo and an
appropriate TrueType font to render the notes in the score.
RTTL, it turns out, stamds for "Ring Tone Transfer Language." You
can find out more about the protocol here.
