Wacom has an updated Intuos3 drawing tablet coming
out, at least in merry ol' not America, which looks like it includes a
new pen with different tips, as well as buttons built-in to the sides
(to choose alternate styles and such, I'd imagine). Not sure on a
price yet, but they do look a little classier than the old models, and
the new fat-bottomed pen (Oh, it's an airbrush tool. Thanks,
guys!) looks very comfortable.

& Expo organizers have announced that Wacom vice-president of
marketing Scott Rawlings, Adobe vice-president of marketing Deb
Whitman and senior digital imaging evangelist Julieanne Kost and
National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) president Scott
Kelby will share the stage for the show's opening keynote address at
9:00 a.m. on Sept. 1. PhotoshopWorld will continue through Sept. 3 at
the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla, with such
companies as Apple, Adobe, Wacom, Nikon, Canon, Microsoft and others
exhibiting the latest hardware and software for digital imaging
professionals during the Tech Expo. On Sept. 2, members of the public
can attend the Tech Expo for US$20 at the door or with a free pass
they can obtain by

latest pen tablet, the Intuos3, which features finger-sensitive touch
strips that allow you to zoom in or scroll with your non-drawing hand
and ExpressKeys that can be programmed for shortcuts, modifiers and
other oft-used operations. In addition, the Intuos3 offers 5080 lines
of resolution per inch (double that of the Intuos2), a new industrial
design, an improved Grip Pen with a larger rubber barrel, a
battery-free mouse with five programmable buttons and a scroll wheel
and a new software bundle that includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 2,
Corel Painter Essentials 2 and nik Color Efex Pro 2 IE, a Photoshop
plug-in with eight photo filters. All three applications take
advantage of the Intuos3's pressure-sensitive capability.

We first mentioned Wacom's
Bluetooth Graphic Tablet when it was released in Japan last month. Renamed the Graphire
Bluetooth Tablet, it comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts for
25 hours. The Graphire Bluetooth also features a cordless,

TabletMagic 1.0, a free
open source Mac OS X driver for unsupported Wacom serial tablets, is
now available. The software includes a control application, and
Lahteine notes that it currently supports the ArtZ-II and PenPartner
tablets as well as others whose model numbers start with CT, KT, SD or
UD. He also says that it works with most USB-to-Serial adapters, such
as those made by Keyspan, but it doesn't yet work with ADB tablets nor
the iMate. TabletMagic 1.0 requires Mac OS X v10.2 or higher.

editing software, Apple will have a strong presence at the upcoming
PhotoshopWorld. Apple is expected to demonstrate the performance of
the upcoming G5-enhanced Photoshop 8.0 on its new G5 Power Macs. A
tongue-in-cheek advertising campaign by Apple in response to the
cancellation of Adobe's Premier software for the Mac had led to
speculation that Adobe might consider ceasing all development for the

PhotoshopWorld Conference &
Expo event, coming to Orlando, Fla. from September 1 - 3, 2004.
The show is held on both East and West Coasts and was last held in San
Francisco, Calif. in March. The event features 60 classroom sessions
led by industry experts like Scott Kelby, Terry White, Deke McClelland
and many others. More than 60 exhibiting companies provide training
and information about their latest hardware, software, cameras,
printers, workstation, training materials and more. Admission costs
US$499 before July 30, 2004, $599 after. NAPP members can save $100 on

testing for Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) status will happen during the
show, which will be held Sept. 1-3 in Orlando, Fla. Attendees will

They'll receive the opportunity to show what they know about
