How The Tea Seller Became The VoIP
Seller

How The Tea Seller Became The VoIP
Seller
09/02/2004 03:56 AM
Earlier this week an announcement from VoIP Inc. caught my attention briefly. It appeared like yet another VoIP startup wannabe, that happened to get a pretty good name for getting attention in the space -- if not much else. Light Reading, however, has the details on VoIP Inc. and how it's former name just so happened to be Millennia Tea Masters. The rest of the story is complex, but rest assured in includes convicted felons, reverse mergers and lots and lots and lots of subsidiaries. Not very much actual selling of products (tea or VoIP) though.

While the entertainment industry freaks out that if their content is available online for free no one will buy it, here's yet another example that it's simply not true. Other things, including packaging, certainly come into play. How else can people explain the fact that the 9/11 Commission Report is a best seller, despite being available for free online? At a reasonable price, many people realize it's simply more convenient to have the hard copy.

Google has become a registrar - a company allowed to sell Internet domain names - but told us it has no current plans to sell any. Last week, Internet overseeing organisation ICANN and technical arm IANA, quietly approved Google#8217;s application and gave it ID number 895. It is now entitled to sell any .biz, .com, .info, .name, .net, .org and .pro domains (but not .aero, .coop, or .museum). Interestingly though, a Google spokeswoman told us#8230; pa href=http://channels.lockergnome.com/news/archives/20050201_google_bec omes_domain_name_seller.phtmlDirect and Related Links for 'Google becomes domain name seller'/a/p
