Intelli Innovations Inc. announced on Tuesday the release of Barcode Automator 3.0, an upgrade to the company's barcode generation software that can pull information from a text file, spreadsheet, manually entered list or FileMaker Pro database and automatically create barcodes in bulk. New features in version 3.0 include the ability to customize naming schemes in finished barcode graphics, support for add-on and magazine issues in both 2- and 5-digit additions, support for barcodes with Global Trade Identification Numbers, compliance with Sunrise 2005 worldwide standards and more.

Deep Prose Software announced on Monday the release of Booxter 1.5, a new version of the company's book collection management application that adds the ability to scan in barcodes with an iSight or any other FireWire video camera. In addition, the upgrade adds the ability to create custom database layouts and switch between them and features several bug fixes and performance enhancements. This is a free update for existing users; new ones can download the software and enter up to 30 books before they have to pay the US$14.99 license fee.
