Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller's keynote address to
attendees of this year's Apple Expo 2004 in Paris, France, but the
company has posted a link to from its
QuickTime home page.
Schiller gave a state of the union address recounting Apple's success
with its iTunes Music Store, its plans for Mac OS X v10.4, codenamed
"Tiger," and offered users the first look at Apple's new iMac G5. The
video is available in QuickTime and MPEG-4.

posted a
news
story on its Web site about the 2004 Beijing International Radio
and Television Exhibition, which started on Aug. 25 and will end on
Aug. 28. According to the article, Apple played a major role at the
trade show, posting large ads outside the convention center and
placing a large booth in the exhibit hall, where the company showed
off its new 30-inch Cinema Displays and Power Mac G5s, as well as
Final Cut Pro HD, Motion, DVD Studio Pro 3 and other pro video and
audio software. Other companies, such as TDK and Sony, were also on
hand, some showcasing Apple solutions too. More information and photos

took a cue from his boss, CEO Steve Jobs, as he unveiled one more
thing at the end of his keynote to kick off this week's Apple Expo in
Paris: a
iMac G5 that
includes the entire system inside a 17- or 20-inch LCD screen.
Continuing the all-in-one theme that started with the original CRT
iMac, the G5 edition features a new industrial design that complements
Apple's recently refreshed Cinema Displays. Schiller said that the new
iMacs will be available in mid-September.

silicone cases for iPod:
Icewear
4G, which was designed to fit the 4G iPod. The most recent
iteration of the MP3 player is slightly different in size compared to
its predecessor and sports the click wheel found on the iPod mini.
Like its cousins, Icewear 4G features shock absorbing side ribs,
access to the iPod's controls and ports and a belt loop. Tunewear
expects to ship the cases worldwide later in September for US$24.95.

Macintosh User Group (MUG)
Center currently features a gallery of shots snapped by Apple
Regional Liaison team member Alain Pougeoise both before the show
opened and after the iMac G5 was revealed. The MUG Center also notes
this week that Mac User Group Singapore is giving an iPod to the
member who designs the best new Web site for the group; Wellington MUG
has opened registration for the New Zealand Digital Solutions Expo
being held Sept. 24-25, complete with the second annual MovieFest; and
Apple Mac Users Society of Melbourne member Nicholas Pyers will be
giving away Macintosh crossword puzzles to interested MUGs on a
regular basis.

Dreamcard, a HyperCard-like
application that enables hobbyists, students and other neophyte
programmers to build their own computer applications and games. They
use Dreamcard to lay out their content -- including text, images,
buttons and menus -- on cards that represent the different screens
required, with stacks of cards enabling the creation of windows,
palettes and dialog boxes. Then they use Dreamcard's scripting
