Features to Small Businesses
06/03/2004 02:01 AMPicomail allows businesses to handle email in a businesslike manner.
Small businesses no longer have to rely on whatever email services
they can get from their Internet access provider, but can use an email
service with the ease of use of Hotmail or AOL's email, with built-in
features previously available only with in-house corporate email
servers and support staff. Each business gets its own domain name, and
can set up as many accounts as needed. Businesses can optionally elect
to have an "email receptionist" who can review and redirect incoming
email addressed to functional names such as Sales, Service, Personnel,
and so forth, as well as email addressed to employees who are away
from the office and likely SPAM. [PRWEB Jun 3, 2004]

conflicts Windows XP Service Pack 2 created still have a lot
of companies spooked:
AssetMetrix surveyed
136,120 PCs between January 5 and March 10. It found that 37.6 percent
of those PCs ran Windows XP. The operating system is more widely
adopted among companies with fewer than 500 PCs, where slightly more
than half of the PCs run Windows XP, according to the study. Also,
smaller organizations show the highest acceptance of SP2, it says.
Of the 251 companies surveyed, 44 had fewer than 10 PCs running
Windows XP. Eighty-four, or 40.7 percent, of the remaining companies
had not installed SP2 from their XP machines, while 16 companies, or
7.7 percent, had updated their XP-based PCs, according to the

syndicated daily puzzle that takes some everyday phrase and presents
it as a clever arrangement of words. For example, "nv emerald" is
"green with envy" and "TTT" is "big tease." Imagine it runs for the
next 40 years. That's 14,600 common phrases from now. Whatzit will be

last uttered in 1928. 2. When a store makes a commitment to everything

A Pro-Evil
Mutual Fund? For centuries, the argument in favor of
laissez-faire
capitalism has been simple.
If you step back and
let businesses pursue profit without restraint, legitimate needs and
desires will be taken care of in an efficient manner. Moral
concerns, the argument goes, are better handled by consumers and
investors
voting with
dollars than governments coercing with legislation. Now, Cato
Institute scholar and Fox News columnist Steven Milloy is worried
ideologically motivated
investors might be putting business profits in danger.
He's forming a new

Why Small Businesses should bl0g
08/03/2004 12:19 PMIn Small businesses and blogging, Church of the
Customer discusses blogging options for small businesses, gives some
examples of small business blogs, and provides a half-dozen reasons
why a small business owner should write a blog:
- They fan the flames of customer evangelism. They help humanize you
and your organization.
- They can function as an instant-feedback machine about your
company and its products and services (because of the comments and
trackback functions).
- They compel you to Napsterize more of your knowledge, which
attracts prospects thanks to the search engines which index your
ongoing knowledge automatically. Attraction is easier than
hunting.
- The facilitate the spread of buzz if you’re honest,
authentic and write your blog yourself.
- They allow you to have more conversations with customers and
prospects than you could ever do in person.
- They help position you as a knowledgeable expert in your
industry.

WiMAX Shouldn't Ignore Businesses
12/02/2003 02:32 PM A study from ABI Research urges service providers that plan to use
WiMAX not to ignore small and medium size businesses: While the firm
concludes that by 2008, 42 percent of subscribers will be residential,
another 16 percent will be small or medium businesses. Those
businesses tend to churn less than consumers and will likely spend
more on their connections so operators would be wise to target them.
ABI expects that combined revenues for 802.16 and 802.20 should pass
$1.5 billion by 2008....
